Dazu gehören Brahms’ »Guten Abend, gut Nacht«, das französische Kinderlied »Au clair de la lune«, die Volkslieder »Es ist so still geworden« und »Im schönsten Wiesengrunde«, »Mein Stern« von Bedrich Smetana sowie das finnische Lied »Tundra«. Bei mehreren Liedern wird der Chor zudem von Musikern der Dresdner Philharmonie begleitet wie bei »Abend wird es wieder«, »Weißt du wie viel Sternlein stehen«, »Wer hat die schönsten Schäfchen«, »Abends will ich schlafen gehn« sowie bei »Schlafe, holder, süßer Knabe« (Franz Schubert) und »Cantique de Jean Racine« (Gabriel Fauré). Die berühmte »Gymnopédie Nr. 1« von Satie und Debussys »Clair de lune« erklingen auf dem abwechslungsreichen Album rein instrumental in Bearbeitungen für Streichquartett.

For Bryce Dessner, music is an expansive and borderless territory. As a composer of classical music, film scores and in the band The National – of which he is founding member and guitarist – the breadth and level of his creative output is extensive. In 2017, he first heard Ensemble Resonanz perform his music during his residency at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie. This album assembles four of Dessner’s most recent and important works for strings: a staggering full string orchestra version of his popular masterpiece »Aheym« followed by a new edition of his captivating string quartet »Tenebre«, featuring an appearance by vocal sensation Moses Sumney. Dessner’s string trio »Skrik« appears as a world premiere recording, while his orchestral piece »Lachrimae«, referencing the musical world of John Dowland, completes this collection of a multi-faceted composer

HARMONY OF DISSONANCE brings together, juxtaposes, and intertwines the disparate singing styles of the regions of Dalmatia, which remain stylistically and performatively distant even today. While these musical worlds present seemingly irreconcilable musical and cultural differences, they are all connected by polyphonic singing, which forms the core of this collaboration between the Harmonija Dissonance Ensemble and the Jazz Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Zagreb.

This is an outstanding sound original pressing (my vinyl is NM), if you want to compare with another releases, I don't have problem. Guitars sounds crystalline and good tonal bass. Fantastic album.

Adding a new rhythm guitarist, Dire Straits expands its sounds and ambitions on the sprawling Love Over Gold. In a sense, the album is their prog rock effort, containing only five songs, including the 14-minute opener "Telegraph Road."

"Deepest Purple" is a fine introduction to the music of the legendary Deep Purple. While the tracks pretty much pick themselves, when complied in this format they represent a thoroughly enjoyable, and surprisingly accurate high level summary of the bands work.

OK, it might not be prog, but anyone who really loves rock music should get this album. This is the reason behind the five stars: "Burn" is a classic, no more, no less, and there's a lot in it for prog lovers to appreciate - for one thing, the interplay between Lord and Blackmore, and Paice's amazing (as always) drum work.

On this, their second album for A&M, Humble Pie proved that they were not the “minor league Rolling Stones” as people often described them. Led by the soulful Steve Marriot, the Pie was a great band in every sense of the word.

Sir Karl Jenkins continues his 75th birthday year celebrations with a brand-new album, Miserere: Songs of Mercy and Redemption, released on 11th October. The new work, released on Decca Records, is dedicated to all who have suffered or perished during the conflicts in the Middle East over the last 70 years. Karl was motivated by the desperate situation for the millions of people displaced and impacted by the cruel effects of war and hoped the healing and uniting powers of music could be used to bring together people from different religions.
