Arranged by Billy May, Come Swing with Me! was Frank Sinatra's final swing session for Capitol Records. The album falls somewhere between the carefree Come Fly with Me and the hard-swinging Come Dance with Me!, borrowing elements of the humor of Fly and the intense, driving rhythms of Dance. Recorded without strings or saxes, the brass-heavy sound of the album was noticeable, but it wasn't nearly as distinctive as the ping-ponging stereo effects of the album.

The brilliant pianist Benny Green has made it his purpose to pass on the essence and tools of the masters of jazz. He was fortunate enough to grow up at a time when a young musician could still approach and apprentice with a legend like drummer Art Blakey, as Green did as a member of the Jazz Messengers. Green continues to honor both the musicians and the sound of the music that he grew up admiring on his new album, Happiness!

Pianist-composer Randy Ingram has put himself in a position to reveal more about his musical identity by scaling down to record The Wandering, a sophisticated, personal and enlightening duo album with bassist Drew Gress. While other instrumentalists can choose a different mouthpiece or effects pedal to modulate and personalize their sound, pianists must develop their identity by how and what they play. Ingram has established his identity through his pianistic touch and sense of orchestration, earning many accolades over the years. Firmly embedded in the new millenium, nOx.3’s music is intriguing and captivating. The young group has not simply reinvented the trio format, but also created their own aesthetic which takes as its guidelines a desire for freedom and a finely-worked sound worthy of the wizards of electro music. As for the spectrum it covers, their music encompasses minimalist tones, hypnotic phases and melodic and rhythmic surprises. It is the jazz of 2016.

Ian Shaw - jazz singer, songwriter (plus stand-up comedian, radio presenter and producer!) - has returned to working with that classic jazz ensemble, the piano trio. A frequent and accomplished solo performer, for this new recording Ian craved a bit of company, and what company he found… the outstanding pianist Barry Green, distinguished bassist Mick Hutton and ace drummer Dave Ohm, three of the UK’s very finest players.

For a successful homage, what better than to insure it yourself? That's what the incredible pianist Chucho Valdés, former leader of the Iraqere group, did. Cuban by birth, he revolutionized the music of his native island with his ivory keys. With an unstoppable swing, he is accompanied on stage by his group The Afro-Cuban Messengers, who bathed in the music of Irakere. The group's biggest hits are picked up and the genre timba definitely in the spotlight. Chucho Valdés has lost none of its splendor and always illuminates the piano with his enchanted fingers. Moreover, it is not trivial that Marciac is chosen to record this album, as this festival is a representative of jazz. At 74 today, the Cuban genius seems to have lost nothing of his talent.
