Are You Authentic? An Excellent Auto & Home Hi-Fi Test SACD!
The AYA (Are You Authentic?) is an association whose members are dedicated to the aim of providing an authentic musical experience in cars. “Are you Authentic“ campaigns for “real” and “natural” sound reproduction by e.g. organizing sound competitions, where the participants receive constructive criticism from an expert jury. The new “know-how” which thereby arises is shared by all without any financial considerations.

More and more music lovers are discovering the unique sound of a vinyl record. Stockfisch thought about whether it is possible just to make the sound creation factors of a vinyl record audible. A pressed record however, has many artifacts arising from the vinyl pressing i.e. distortion, rumble, groove noise, vertical and lateral aberrations, clicks, etc. and other artifacts that are detrimental to a good sound. Stockfisch calls their new production method 'DMM-CD'. With this solution, they can eradicate the aforementioned disadvantages of the pressed record - and yet still maintain the typical vinyl sound.

This release is the debut recording of the Thüringer Bach Collegium and marks the beginning of its co-operation with audite. A second album (works by Johann Bernhard Bach) will be released in autumn 2019 and further projects are being planned.

Passionate, inspired performances and brilliant technique are the hallmark of pianist ChangYong Shin. He brings those qualities to meditative yet virtuosic works by Beethoven, Liszt and Chopin. With performances in South Korea, Italy, France, the UK, and across the United States, and a growing reputation for compelling interpretations, Mr. Shin is developing an international career as a soloist and chamber musician. Mr. Shin released his debut album on the Steinway & Sons label in January 2018.

Joseph Shiner and Somi Kim perform the last chamber works ever written by Brahms: his Clarinet Sonatas, heard here alongside his sublime Clarinet Trio, for which they are joined by cellist Yoanna Prodanova. Brahms was so enchanted by the playing of clarinetist Richard Muhlfeld that he came out of retirement in order to write four chamber works for the soloist. Three of those works are featured on this album, interpreted by the exciting up-and-coming clarinetist Joseph Shiner, with Somi Kim at the piano and, for the Trio, cellist Yoanna Prodanova.

It is striking that two of the true classics in English orchestral music were composed within the short space of some fifteen years around the turn of the previous century. Edward Elgar's Enigma Variations have charmed as well as fascinated listeners since the first performance in 1899. In 14 remarkably diverse variations Elgar demonstrates his compositional mastery while creating miniature portraits of his closest friends, as well as of his wife and himself.

The music on Presentiment, a 2018 release with four orchestral works by Rolf Martinsson, was described by one critic as bold and uncompromisingly personal, eschewing avant-garde modernism and engaging us with solidly expert conventional techniques of composition and orchestration. The present disc features more of Martinssons music, performed by the Malmö Symphony Orchestra a body with which Martinsson has enjoyed a close relationship as its composer in residence. In two of the recorded works, the orchestra conducted by Paul Mägi is joined by another of Martinssons regular collaborators, the soprano Lisa Larsson.

Winner of the 2009 Van Cliburn competition, Haochen Zhang is no stranger to a challenge. On this début concerto disc he proves this once more, boldly jumping in at the deep end as he takes on Sergei Prokofievs Piano Concerto No. 2. The demands posed by Prokofievs concerto are famous, starting with a huge cadenza already in the first movement. This may explain why the concerto was for a long time relatively unknown and, unlike the First and Third Piano Concertos, has only recently taken its rightful place in the repertory.
