Greensleeves' 2007 release Most Wanted: Classic Cuts 1978-1984 isn't the definitive Wailing Souls compilation, but with the band's discography sprawling across labels, decades, and many flavors of reggae, a one-disc wrap-up is a bit too much to ask. Most Wanted focuses on the transitional years of 1978-1984, just missing their seminal 1977 hit "Bredda Gravalicious," but displaying their evolution from rugged roots music to more mature roots and on to dancehall. "Bredda"'s successor, "War," is here, and like every other cut save "Fire House Rock," it's presented in its desirable 12" mix, which in this case stretches the infectious groove past the five-minute mark. Even better, "Kingdom Rise & Kingdom Fall" is rightfully epic at over ten minutes and "See Baba Joe" makes it to almost nine with its easy-strolling dub tacked on. Almost all of these extended mixes are previously unreleased on CD and extremely hard to find in any format, so it's a bit odd that Greensleeves doesn't crow about it on the cover, deciding instead to market this as a mere "best-of." For hardcore fans, this is the logical follow-up to Pressure Sounds' The Wailing Souls at Channel One, and it would be just as revelatory if didn't overlap that set by a couple tracks.

A good collection of Australian music from the seventies, although often not the biggest hits of the included artists. It's also not all 'pop'. Quite alot of it is actually rock. The most notable inclusion here is Cheetah's "Walking in the Rain" a cover of the Ronette's 1964 original.

This 2002 compilation shuffles most of Wild Cherry's charting hits and combines them with a larger number of album cuts. "Play That Funky Music," along with the other singles that almost no one remembers – "Hot to Trot," "Hold On," "I Love My Music" – are included. "Baby Don't You Know," the mildly successful "Play That Funky Music" sound-alike that became the group's second hit, is not. Everything the group did was unfairly compared to "Play That Funky Music," so the remainder of the Wild Cherry catalog is deserving of more attention; still, this disc will be more than enough for most casual fans of disco and funk.

Samson’s career goes back to the mid-1970s London pub and club circuit, where early members included future Squeeze drummer Paul Gunn, and ex Zzebra bassist John McCoy. By 1977 the line-up had stabilised with future Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr, and ex- Steamhammer, Castle and Tiger Lily bassist Chris Aylmer. 1979 saw the release of their debut, “Survivors”, with John McCoy producing and playing bass, alongside fellow Gillan member Colin Towns on keyboards. The Heavy Metal Crusade” tour, with Samson supported by upcoming London band Iron Maiden as guests, alongside with Saxon, Angelwitch and the Nicky Moore Band, is renowned for being the start of what became known as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (or NWOBHM for short). By July 1979, the band expanded to a four piece with the addition of vocalist Bruce Dickinson, then going under the stage name of Bruce Bruce. Over the following two years they released “Head On” and “Shock Tactics” to critical acclaim, touring with Rainbow, Robin Trower and Uriah Heep. Following a triumphant show at the 1981 Reading Festival , Bruce left for global success with Iron Maiden, joining ex-Samson drummer Clive Burr. Dickinson was replaced by ex-Hackensack and Tiger powerhouse vocalist Nicky Moore for a run of albums on Polydor records.

This is a tribute album that contains just songs from Depeche Mode's "Ultra", performed by Swedish and German synth-pop bands.

It appears at least that All Areas is just the inevitable catalog addition from a group well into the twilight of their career, and it would be altogether useless if Accept wasn't such an exceptional live act. Perhaps a contract needed fulfillment or maybe the rent was just due, but no matter the reason for this disc's existence, it is not without merit and may be the best live recording from one of metal's most consistent live acts. The quality of the recording is commendable and the performances do not lack any of the enthusiasm and precision that fans would expect from Accept.

Carly Rae Jepsen may not be the most prolific pop star, but when she releases an album, she makes it count. On 2015's E-MO-TION, she proved just how much more there was to her music than "Call Me Maybe" as she expanded the sugar rush of 2012's Kiss into pop songs that were equally joyous and introspective. Four years after E-MO-TION, she makes another leap forward with Dedicated, an album that reflects her growing maturity as a songwriter as well as the pop music trends of its time. Jepsen trades E-MO-TION's deep dive into '80s nostalgia for a more streamlined approach on "No Drug Like Me" and "Automatically in Love," where swelling synths and loping beats nod to tropical pop while adding sophistication to her swooning lyrics.

Michael Crétu's attempt at fusing everything from easy listening sex music and hip-hop rhythms to centuries-old Gregorian chants couldn't have been more designed to tweak the nose of high art, a joyously crass stab straight at a mainstream, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars. The result is something that shouldn't exist, but in its own way results in as much of a cultural scramble and explosion as anything Public Enemy were doing around the same time, crossing over the Euro-disco and new age spheres with style…

“Metal Heart”, Accept’s sixth studio album, was their second major label release after 1983’s “Balls to The Wall”. Their 1985 record found the legendary and highly influential German heavy metal band go in a slightly more US radio-friendly than their previous releases, particularly on the single ‘Midnight Mover’.
This edition now includes the Japanese live mini-album “Kaizoku-Ban” in its entirety, recorded in Nagoya, Japan, on September 19, 1985 on the Japanese leg of the band’s Metal Heart world tour. “Kaizoku-Ban” features ‘Metal Heart’, ‘Screaming For A Love-Bite’ and ‘Up To The Limit’ from “Metal Heart” and ‘Head Over Heels’, ‘Love Child’ and ‘Living For Tonite’ from their previous long-player, “Balls to The Wall”. The album was their first to be produced by famed German producer Dieter Dirks, best known for his work with fellow Teutonic rockers, the Scorpions.
