Heavy hitting rock legends, Night Ranger are set to release their 12th studio album, "ATBPO” (which stands for And The Band Played On), an ode to making music during the covid era. The album will be released on August 6, 2021 via Frontiers Music Srl on CD, Color Vinyl (a variety of limited edition versions), and Digital. The band began writing the album in early 2020, amid the rise of the global pandemic. After narrowing down the song selection and tightening them up to their well-known rock ‘n roll sound, the band hit the studio, although separately, due to the times we are in. Throughout ATBPO we hear Night Ranger continuing their hot streak that kicked off with 2011's "Somewhere In California".

Alain Jean-Marie is a French jazz pianist. He made his first recordings in 1969 (released in 1997 as piano biguines). At the same time he played regularly with the trio of Winston Berkley and Jean Claude Montredon. In 1973, he moved to Paris, where he accompanied jazz musicians such as Chet Baker, Sonny Stitt, Art Farmer, Johnny Griffin, Lee Konitz, and Max Roach. In 1979, he debuted with his own trio (Al Levitt on percussion, Gus Nemeth and later Riccardo Del Fra on bass). Since the 1980s, he has regularly performed with Barney Wilen, including as a duo on albums such as La Notenbleue (1986) and Dreamtime (1992). In 1986, he regularly accompanied Dee Dee Bridgewater. Born in 1981, Arnaud Quevedo is a french musician who is teaching music in Conservatoire since 2007. After several band projects, tributes to Zappa, Gong, King Crimson and Magma with his students, he started making things under is name in 2020.

Sound and space are mutually dependant. Which works sound best in which environment? Where can the spirit and character of the music most clearly be expressed? These questions are what inspired the conductor Gerd Schaller to embark on an ambitious major project in 2007: in the impressive environment of the abbey church that once formed part of Ebrach’s Cistercian monastery in Franconia, he directed his festival orchestra, the Philharmonie Festiva, in recordings of all of Anton Bruckner’s symphonies. What is special about this Bruckner cycle is that Schaller in some cases selected less well-known, ‘interim’ versions or variants that had previously never been performed but give revealing insights into Bruckner’s compositional approach.

2021 is less than a month old and already we have one of the albums of 2021 from London-based musician and poet Arlo Parks. The album is a series of vignettes and intimate portraits surrounding her adolescence and the people that shaped it. It is rooted in storytelling and nostalgia. The album is an emotional rollercoaster of heartbreak, beautiful poetry, betrayal and hope, that has been inspired by Allen Ginsberg, Sylvia Plath, Jim Morrison and Fela Kuti. One listen and you will fall in love, like you did when you first heard Frank Ocean, King Krule or Lilly Allen.

A sultry female R&B quartet originally consisting of D'Marie Warren, Roberta Stieger (both formerly in Alton McClain & Destiny, Tina Scott, and Karon Floyd, Krystol never made a big dent in the charts, but they offered several noteworthy electro-soul efforts in the mid-'80s. Produced by Leon Sylvers III and company, the group's debut set concentrates on electric funk-influenced dance and midtempo numbers. The clever "Nobody's Gonna Get This Lovin' but You" has an irresistible groove; and "You Ask Too Much" uses a haunting keyboard ostinato, layered octaves, and astute vocal interaction between Stieger and Floyd to create a beautiful midtempo piece. The set's lone ballad, "Same Place, Same Time," is an alluring midnight-hour slow jam. About half of the remaining material is unmemorable, due to lackluster melodies and uninspired arrangements. Krystol would prove to never be an album act, per se; but the strong entries combined with the contribution of leads by all group members make this album a close second to its follow-up, Talk of the Town.

Bonaventura Aliotti‚ unrepresented in the CD catalogues until now‚ was a Sicilian composer of the middle Baroque‚ born in Palermo around 1640‚ dying some 50 years later. A Minorite friar‚ he worked as organist in Padua and various other Italian cities‚ ending up as maestro di cappella in Palermo. His oratorios‚ of which only four survive‚ seem to have been greatly admired in his time. Il Sansone‚ first performed in Naples in 1686‚ tells the central part of the familiar story of Samson – his seduction and betrayal by Delilah‚ at the bidding of the Philistine Captain and with the help of the allegorical character Inganno (‘Treachery’) and Morpheus‚ god of sleep. It was revised two years later for performance in Modena‚ and the choral music was added; the Modena score‚ as the only surviving source for the work‚ is used here.
