Into the Light contains Chris de Burgh's highest-charting single with the ballroom elegance of "Lady in Red," peaking at number three in 1987 and remaining on the Billboard charts for 14 weeks. This song, with its sweeping romantic tempo and classy feel, is reminiscent of Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" as de Burgh's sincere flattery for his lover is exquisitely sung. Even his voice seems more pronounced, as it resonates and then lowers into a softer tone. Besides the hit single, much of the album remains lush and mellow in the style of de Burgh's usual ballads. On songs like "Last Night" and "Spirit of Man," his seriousness and honesty break through to showcase his passion for his work.

In 2017, he appeared as Don José in Carmen in Paris and sang Enée, opposite Joyce DiDonato in Berlioz's Les Troyens in Strasbourg.

The elegant rhetoric betrays Gesualdo's aristocratic background, and its internal contradiction neatly reflects the baffling ingenuity of his work, whose dissonances were literally centuries ahead of his time, their bold gambits regarded with suspicion by his 16th-century peers, and even now testing the imagination and ingenuity of even as accomplished a team as the Hilliard quartet.

Featuring a brillant collection of ten songs with a strong latino flavour, this record just shows how good these guys have become at writing thumping, pulsating popsongs. Together with their new vocalist Hazel Sim they manage to make this album sparkle.

Colina Serrano Project (Universal / ContraBaix), the first album that has united the talents of harmonica player Antonio Serrano and bassist Javier Colina, is now at major retailers across the country. Accompanied by Guillermo McGill on drums and Ivan Lewis "Melon" on the piano, Serrano Hill Project includes original compositions and arrangements of pieces by artists such as Paco de Lucia, Stevie Wonder or Jaco Pastorius. The role of melody and musical eclecticism, in the presence of jazz, tango, flamenco and Latin rhythms are the most characteristic elements of Serrano Hill Project.

This quartet session features the compositions of bassist Paolino Dalla Porta and pianist Stefano Battaglia, along with Kenny Wheeler's trumpet and flugelhorn solos and drummer Bill Elgart's rhythmic support. While Porta has solid technique and excellent tone, and Battaglia offers a reasonable approximation of Keith Jarrett's playing style, this date doesn't quite manage to inspire. That's mostly due to Wheeler, whose playing wavers and occasionally falters. His flugelhorn solos are more mellow, better executed and successful, but as the principal soloist outside the rhythm section, he's not always up to the task on this date.

Many of KORPIKLAANI’s songs come directly from the annals of the Finnish folk archives, but are activated with a fierce twist of metal. This constitutes the major difference between KORPIKLAANI and other folk metal bands, which usually use folk music only as the impulse in metal. KORPIKLAANI’s music is very Finnish and the band does not fear to be labeled “yokels“, living in the middle of the forest. Following the release of “Spirit of the Forest”, KORPIKLAANI added a second guitarist, Cane, to the line-up. They began work on their follow up, “Voice of Wilderness” at the end of the 2004 summer. Recording under the guidance of Samu Oittinen (Fantom Studio), the band smoothly laid track for track. With the recording of “Voice of Wilderness” complete and awaiting its 24 Jan 2005 release, the members of KORPIKLAANI concentrated on finding a permanent accordion player. Juho joined the band in the fall of 2004 enabling them to more easily transfer the energetic melodies and Folk Metal atmosphere to the live stage.

Pietro Paolo Bencini (1675? -1755) was one of the most important figures in the musical life of Rome in the eighteenth century. His sacred music is on the same level as that of Alessandro Scarlatti. This is evident from the fact that much of his music can be found in copies even outside Europe. The most important part of his oeuvre is in the collection of the 'Cappella Guilia', now the library of the Vatican. Bencini worked as 'maestro di cappella' in the basilica of San Lorenzo in Damaso and from 1743 in St. Peter's of Rome; an important job. His style is festive, full of contrasts and smooth melodic lines.

Pianist Bud Powell is heard in top form throughout this CD, playing six selections with his all-star trio (which also includes bassist Oscar Pettiford and drummer Kenny Clarke) and three songs on which the trio is joined by the great tenor Coleman Hawkins. There is plenty of classic bebop throughout the concert performance with Powell mostly sticking to standards (along with his original "John's Abbey"); Hawkins is best on "Stuffy." This release is recommended as a fine example of the playing of these classic masters.

Decca really were dreadful at wasting talent. They seemed not to value anything or have any vision of acts lasting more than six months. The Zombies and Them were two bands, who were pushed too hard to the point of break up, who clearly had a lot of talent and longevity in them. This album is a very rare thing, it is a psychedelic influenced album that still sounds fresh and vibrant where others, although they may be charming, are a bit dated and irrelevant. Produced by Bill Wyman this album is full of little bits of whimsy mixed with some wonderful songs. Perhaps the Rolling Stone should have given him the same role on Their Satanic Majesties Request.
