Pianist Steve Kuhn, accompanied by David Finck and Billy Drummond, explore classical works by a number of top composers from the 19th and 20th centuries on this Japanese release, though they are used as a launching pad for improvisation.

After a decade-long hiatus, Bristol-based shoegaze ensemble, The Fauns, have reemerged from their secret bunker with eagerly anticipated third album, How Lost via Invada. The Fauns’ journey began in 2007, self-releasing their eponymous debut album in 2009, followed by the 2013 release of Lights.

ConnecTrio's first album is named after a piece by contemporary Polish composer Tomasz Golinski: Luminosity - brightness in Hungarian. Through the language of music, we embark on a journey to explore the myriad facets of light, what the inner light means, or what the brightness of the world can give. It can be a force that gives security, it can be destructive and dangerous. The album presents music with classical, art-pop, jazz and folk influences for flute, piano, percussion and voices.

This ensemble's first project, "The Waves", borrows its words from Virginia Woolf to tell sensual stories filled with images of the natural world. Double bass, cello, viola, violin and voice enter in dialogue to paint a poetic fresco that is at once fragile,melancholic, poignant, and luminous.

Conchúr White's story began in bands. He played in atmospheric indie-rockers Silences, before their split allowed Conchúr to develop his solo voice at his own pace. That sense of freedom colors Conchúr's music. He is a music graduate who has also worked alongside young people with mental health issues. On the Bikini Crops and Dreamers EPs, he filtered the influences of acts such as Arctic Monkeys (recent vintage) and Father John Misty into songs at once playful, referential and experiential. The moonlit plea of this year's "Atonia", a cathartic reverie on sleep paralysis, showed White's melodic and lyrical talents blossoming.

Chad Crouch’s soundwalks fuse immersive binaural recordings—made while walking through a sound-rich natural environment—with his elegantly simple instrumental scores. Columbia Lowlands Soundwalk captures the reverberant ancient calls of Sandhill Cranes wintering along the Columbia river, pairing them to tender, evocative, melodic performances.

“UPHEAVAL” is an exceptional project in several aspects. First, it presents four compositions for cello and piano written by female composers from the first part of the 20th century, challenging the cultural norms of the day and secondly, the title “Upheaval”, also refers to the tumultuous period around the First World War. The works featured on this recording are Henriëtta Bosmansʼ Sonata for Cello and Piano (1919), Dora Pejačevićʼs Sonata for Cello and Piano (1913), Nadia Boulangerʼs Trois pièces (1914), and Lili Boulangerʼs Nocturne (1911), were all written over an eight-year period in France, the Netherlands, and Croatia.

These works are composed and (mostly) performed by Michael Kieran Harvey. They range in style from the extended techniques and rarefied atmosphere of Piano Sonata #7 to the more traditional romanticism of Liszt and Busoni in the Four Ballades, to the entertaining bebop language of Lawyers… and the strident metal-influenced satire of Death Cap Mushroom.

Their agenda of racial harmony and social inclusion was pursued through their music, and came to be described as the Two Tone movement.

"More Specials" is the second album by ska band The Specials, released in October 1980. The album expanded the 2 tone sound of their self-titled debut to include lounge music and other influences.

It generated three hit singles and it kept Paul Simon and the Graceland tour on the road for five years. Its music was heard across the globe. Today, its music and its reputation still reach generations of music enthusiasts yet so many are unaware of how pivotal that one album was during the 1980s, how it helped birth the idea of World Music and revived the career of one of America's most important songwriters. Graceland's 25th anniversary features the original album with bonus tracks including a unreleased tracks audio documentary produced in 2012 with Paul Simon discussing the writing, inspiration and recording of the song 'Graceland'.

Stuff was a legendary fusion group that existed briefly in the late 1970s. They were quite popular for a few years, recording four albums for Warner Bros. and having occasional reunions in the 80s. Under the leadership of bassist Gordon Edwards, first-call New York studio musicians got together and mostly played for their own fun.
