American Dreamers is a large jazz ensemble album from multi-Grammy nominated artist John Daversa and his talented Big Band. It features over 50 young Americans known as 'Dreamers' (DACA recipients) who were brought to the US as children. The musicians perform iconic songs of America such as James Brown's 'Living In America' and John Philip Sousa's 'Stars and Stripes Forever'. It's a jazz album that includes cross genre and cross-cultural influences. Putting aside politics and partisanship, everyone can enjoy the songs of America, and this album has received bipartisan support from prominent voices on both sides of the aisle. Indeed, this production shows what's possible in this country and in the world. It's a celebration of 'togetherness'.

It's a rare artist who insists on playing every instrument on their debut record, mixing together a series of intense guitar, bass, drum, piano and vocal performances to approximate the sound of one live, righteous rock band. At only 21 years old, Thomas Abban has already established himself as a singular artist in the Minnesota music community; he has an ambitious, larger than life artistic vision, a meticulous approach to executing his songs, and the restless creative impulses of someone unconcerned with where they fit in the larger musical universe. The work of the French composer Olivier Messiaen in General and his Turangalila Symphony in particular have now long been considered milestones in musical history. The symphony’s premiere in 1949 was conducted by a 31-year-old Leonard Bernstein. He was standing in for Serge Koussevitzky, who had commissioned the work for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. This recording by the Tonkunstler Orchestra and Yutaka Sado, who was once Leonard Bernstein’s assistant in Vienna, joins many other productions on the in-house label the orchestra founded in 2016.

Tyler Shaw is a platinum-selling artist, producer and actor. The Chinese-Canadian released his hit song “Kiss Goodnight” in 2012, and the melodic track quickly hit platinum sales. In 2014 Tyler earned a JUNO Award nominated for ‘Breakthrough Artist of the Year.’ He then went on to release certified gold tracks “House of Cards” and “Wicked” all from his 2015 debut album Yesterday.

Focusing on the work of these French masters, Paul Agnew has fashioned a program exploring the role of cathedral and chapel choirs during the reign of Louis XIV.

The Piatti Quartet present British music for string quartet, including two world premieres by Joseph Phibbs and Mark-Anthony Turnage alongside works by Britten and Bridge · The inspiration for the album began with their commission of Joseph Phibbs’ String Quartet No 1 in 2014, premiered at the Rye Arts Festival, where audiences were enthusiastic to hear the work again.

In 24 Preludes op. 28, Chopin’s classicist side governs the work’s unified key structure with the pieces arranged in pairs ofmajor and minor keys ascending in intervals of a fifth. Chopin as teacher prevails in how nearly each Prelude either addresses a particular technical challenge or is constructed according to a specific textural agenda. A Romantic sensibility lies at the heart of the music’s diversity of moods, brash declamatory gestures and frequent harmonic sleights-of-hand, yet, Chopin being Chopin, it is controlled Romanticism, and strikingly original at every turn.

The shifting dimensions of Masana Temples, fourth album from psychedelic explorers Kikagaku Moyo,are informed by various experiences the band had with traveling through life together, ranging from the months spent on tour to making a pilgrimage to Lisbon to record the album with jazz musician Bruno Pernadas. The band sought out Pernadas both out of admiration for his music and in an intentional move to work with a producer who came from a wildly different background. With Masana Temples, the band wanted to challenge their own concepts of what psychedelic music could be. Elements of both the attentive folk and wild-eyed rocking sides of the band are still intact throughout, but they’re sharper and more defined.
