Earning a Grammy nomination and Gramophone Magazine's Young Artist of the Year award in 2015, Joseph Moog is one of the finest young virtuoso pianists of our time. On this release, Moog turns to Chopin's piano sonatas. Piano Sonata No.1 is a rarely heard work. It shows the young composer as yet untouched by the influences of Beethoven and the other great composer-pianists of the period. It owes more to Mozart and the late classical period.

The Kuss Quartet’s fourth ONYX album is a programme of Brahms and Schoenberg, and they are joined by the German soprano Mojca Erdmann in three Brahms Lieder, and the 2nd of Schoenberg’s four string quartets.

The eagerly awaited 3rd volume in the critically acclaimed Prokofiev Symphony cycle from Kirill Karabits and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. The original version of the 4th, probably the least performed of the seven is coupled with the 5th, arguably the most performed. The 4th is based on material from the ballet ‘The Prodigal Son’. The symphony was commissioned by Serge Koussevitzky to mark the 50th anniversary of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

What would classical music in our country be without the Queen Elisabeth Competition? The ‘mother of all music competitions’ is this year given over to the piano. As is customary in recent years the National Orchestra is conducted by the American conductor Marin Alsop during the final of the competition.

Andrew Manze’s interpretations of Vaughan Williams’ Symphonies have met with acclaim from audiences and critics alike. This second volume in the cycle from the RLPO and Andrew Manze feature Nos 3 & 4: two works heavily influenced by the Great War and its aftermath. A repressed seething rage and sorrow at the futility of the war pervades No.3, "It is really wartime music - a great deal of it originated when I used to go up night after night in the ambulance wagon at Ecoivres" said the composer.

Kirill Karabits and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra embark on a fascinating journey through the seven Prokofiev symphonies, and will explore some rare works from the composer's early years that help chart his symphonic development. On this first album of the cycle the rarely performed alternative ending for the Seventh Symphony can be heard.

Originally conceived by a Japanese record label, The Great Jazz Trio began with Hank Jones, Ron Carter and Tony Williams 30 years ago. Throughout many iterations, Jones has remained as a constant, as well as the concept of pairing the veteran pianist with the most exciting rhythm section of the day. In 2005, at age 86, Jones found himself in the company of another GREAT rhythm section: John Patitucci on bass and Jack DeJohnette on drums. Though certainly younger than Jones, they are both veterans who have established themselves firmly as superb musicians and masters of their respective instruments.

Massimo Farao, who is from Italy, first visited the United States in 1983 when he played with Red Holloway. In Europe he has since worked with many top performers including Tony Scott, Jesse Davis, Franco Ambrosetti, Nat Adderley, Jack DeJohnette and a notable tour in 2007 with organist Joey DeFrancesco.
