It nevertheless reveals an inspiration of remarkable modernity and diversity, notably in his collections of Musiche Varie. He became interested in the then emerging DIY technology of recording at home with computers. When originally released this was the first album to feature a floppy disc included as a special bonus. Though the critics were not kind to the album when first released, it remains an intriguing & vital chapter in Idols stellar career.

Jacques Brel recorded this live album, released posthumously, at a celebrated show at the Knokke Casino in Flanders, Belgium in July 1963. Perhaps best known as the concert where Brel introduced the classic Mathilde, which wouldn't appear on a studio album for another three years, the historic performance features many of Brel's best known songs from the first half of his career. This edition includes a 42 minute interview with Brel, conducted in 1971.

The achingly beautiful, haunting lyricism of early Rachmaninov and the soaring effusiveness of late Prokofiev are glowingly brought to life by the German-Canadian cellist Johannes Moser and the Russian pianist Andrei Korobeinikov in this new release from PENTATONE of richly expressive 20th century cello sonatas and other works.

In this recording Tina Margareta Nilssen presents three piano works, each with a wide spectrum of expression and intensity. Two of them belong to the standard repertoire, but the third, by Signe Lund, is a practically unknown work, a real gem recorded here for the very first time. The Piano Sonata in E minor is one of Edvard Grieg's most equilibristic and passionate works. Signe Lund's beautiful music guides the listener through Norwegian nature, turbulent stormy weather and the French salons. And in Beethoven's famous "Appassionata" sonata one can hear the struggles and suffering that ultimately led to his creation of a whole new era of music.

For the past five years, David Grimal has organised a benefit concert for the homeless, and all proceeds from this disc will be donated to the association The Margéniaux. This programme is therefore chosen for a wider audience: the famous Four Seasons by Antonio Vivaldi, are associated with the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla.

Collaborators for a number of years, Philippe Sly and John Charles Britton see these Schubert Sessions as a way to broaden and heighten Schubert’s place in popular culture, in particular in terms of his influence on modern popular song. The recording also fulfills a need to revisit these lyric masterpieces in a form that emphasizes not only their idiom (many of these pieces, including Wohin? and Auf Dem Wasser Zu Singen, exhibit writing that is more guitaristic than pianistic) but their polymorphic essence.
