Director Aaron Sorkin tells the true story of an Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game and became an FBI target. Her players included movie stars, business titans and unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob. The soundtrack for Molly’s Game will be composed by Daniel Pemberton who recently put stones and even Chinese chopsticks to usage in his score for Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur.

Given the hundreds of shows performed since 2000, today one can overlook how momentous the Reunion tour was for fans who had been hoping, waiting and questioning for more than decade if Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band would ever hit the road again.

Louis Armstrong was the first important soloist to emerge in jazz, and he became the most influential musician in the music's history. As a trumpet virtuoso, his playing, beginning with the 1920s studio recordings made with his Hot Five and Hot Seven ensembles, charted a future for jazz in highly imaginative, emotionally charged improvisation. For this, he is revered by jazz fans. But Armstrong also became an enduring figure in popular music, due to his distinctively phrased bass singing and engaging personality, which were on display in a series of vocal recordings and film roles. This set impressively boils down one of the most brilliant and lengthy careers in music: 50 tracks from six record labels and 42 years.

The institutions of classical music change and evolve, but the Vienna New Year's Concert presented by the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, now in its 76th year, remains a pure tradition. That's not to say that there's no new music on the program. The 2015 concert includes five works never played at the concert before, but all are by members of the Strauss family, who as usual dominate the program, and they go to show the size of the unexplored waltz and polka repertory.

Daniel Barenboim conducted the Vienna Philharmonic in the 2014 News Year's Concert, an annual celebration that showcases classics by the venerable Strauss family and the light music of other composers. True to tradition, this concert offers selections by Johann Strauss I, his sons Johann Strauss II, Eduard Strauss, and Josef Strauss, as well as the unrelated Richard Strauss, Joseph Hellmesberger, Joseph Lanner, and for the first time on a New Year's concert, the French composer Léo Delibes.

Despite playing to arenas of twenty thousand strong in mainland Europe, Oscar And The Wolf is little known in this country. But being big in Europe is not necessarily a good sign. There are many matters of taste and style that just do not cross the Channel, east to west, anyway. The embodiment of two sides of Max Colombie’s personality, Oscar And The Wolf links Europop, fashion and the show as spectacle, theatrics that many British music fans find distracting. It is a cultural gap the Belgian pop superstar is unlikely to bridge on this second album Infinity.

The programme presented by Ann Hallenberg for DHM is a homage to the historical roman figure of Agrippina, one of the earliest historical women to inspire the fantasy of librettists and composers. Ann Hallenberg and a team of musicologists researched the musical archives to unearth all surviving operatic manuscripts containing the figure of Agrippina. On the eve of his centenary in 2018, Sony Classical releases the most important collection, Leonard Bernstein’s classic American Columbia recordings, remastered from their original 2- and multi-track analogue tapes. This has allowed for the creation of a natural balance (for example, between the orchestra and solo instruments) that brings the quality of these half-century-old recordings, excellent for their time, up to the standards of today’s audiophiles.
