During his last years in Vienna Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed only three liturgical works: the short 'Ave Verum Corpus' and two unfinished masterworks: the 'Mass in C minor' and the 'Requiem' in D minor. Most of his sacred oeuvre was written at an early age in the conservative city of Salzburg. The 'Requiem' from 1791 is stylistically far removed from that early church music and suits the concert hall better than the church.

Produced by the Band's Robbie Robertson, who had also helmed the previous year's „Beautiful Noise“, 1977's „Love At The Greek“ is a document of Neil Diamond at the height of his fame, performing hits like 'Kentucky Woman' and 'Sweet Caroline' before an audibly awestruck crowd. The musicianship is impeccable throughout, while the arrangements update and in some cases improve on the originals, injecting freshness and vitality into Diamond classics like 'Holly Holy' and 'Song Sung Blue.' The medley from the songwriter's 'Jonathan Livingston Seagull' opus is a particular highlight.

Formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1959, The Chi-lites were originally called the Hi-Lites, but had to change their name as there was a similarity with another groups name at the time. The 'C' in the groups 'Chi-Lites' name derived from their hometown's city, Chicago. Prior to the first incarnation Eugene Record, Clarence Johnson and Robert Lester recorded with the group The Chanteurs, who released material on the Renee Records imprint in 1959.

„A Fever Dream“ is the Manchester-based four-piece Everything Everything's fourth album. It's the follow up to the critically-lauded Top 10 album 'Get To Heaven”, an album that can now be seen to have been incredibly prescient given the current state of the world. It was their third consecutive Top 10 album, after LPs 'Man Alive' and 'Arc.'

Secrets (1976) is a Jazz-Funk fusion album by acclaimed keyboard player Herbie Hancock. Following up on his previous album Man-Child, the album again features Paul Jackson on bass, and reedist Bennie Maupin continued to provide most of the solos alongside Hancock. Man-Child had seen the addition of electric guitar to Hancock's sound, and Secrets saw the guitar's place in the arrangements rise to crucial importance throughout. The flamboyant rhythm guitar contributions of top Motown session musician Wah Wah Watson are a particularly notable feature of the album.

When people talk about classic Stevie, most people go for "Songs In The Key Of Life" or "Innervisions" - but, to my mind, they have serious competition in this classic from late-74. It is probably overlooked as there was only 2 singles from it (the excellent funky, stinging Nixon rebuke "You Have n't Done Nothin'", and the cool "Boogie On Reggae Woman"), but every track is a classic. More reflective than "Innervisions" or "Songs", and bit more down-tempo, but there are some real beauties.

Not as arresting as two previous albums. It only produced one bonafide hit, "Good Lovin' Ain't Easy to Come By," while the others spawned three each. Tammi became ill before this record was completed, and Valerie Simpson had to perform many of the tracks. Simpson is a good singer but doesn't have the charm, charisma, or sexy Southern drawl that Tammi was blessed with. A remake of Terrell's solo outing "I Can't Believe You Love Me" adds nothing to the original; likewise for lackluster renditions of "California Soul," "I'm Your Puppet," and "Baby, I Need Your Loving."

In the early '70s rock stars did not make standards albums, but that's what Nilsson did with this 1973 LP. He nearly cracked the Top 40, too, backed by Gordon Jenkins' orchestra as he sets that beautiful voice free on As Time Goes By; It Had to Be You; Always ; six bonus outtakes unissued in the U.S., and more!

Well, what do you expect from an artist who's reading Penthouse, surrounded by liquor bottles and cigarettes, on the cover of his album? Perfection? Accessibility? Sanity? Well, you ain't gonna get that from Nilsson, a man who left sanity behind shortly after he entered the mainstream with Nilsson Schmilsson. Instead, you get a record from an artist who's just at the fringe of popular culture, not really caring if he has a hit, but not really wanting to be so weird that he's just a cult.

Dolly had recorded plenty of covers on her earlier albums, but this was the first devoted exclusively to such songs. Since then, Dolly has recorded several covers albums including Home for Christmas, Treasures, Precious memories and Those were the days. The songs here mostly date from the sixties, with a few earlier or later, which pattern was repeated on Treasures and Those were the days. Home for Christmas and Precious memories are themed albums and most of the songs on those albums are somewhat older.

Over the course of almost 10 years, Yevgeny Sudbin has been recording Sergei Rachmaninov’s works for piano and orchestra. The journey began in the U.S.A. in 2008 with the Fourth Piano Concerto, and what Classic FM Magazine described as ‘a glorious recording’ with the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra under Grant Llewellyn. For the Paganini Variations and Piano Concerto No. 1, Sudbin continued to Asia and highly praised collaborations with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and conductor Lan Shui.
