The songs are all beautifully constructed, written and played. She has a very warm voice which she adds her harmonies to great effect, she does not overstretch her voice and absolutely no warbling (thankfully). Featuring a really great band to create a full yet real sound, not over produced, harking back to a sixties groove… its a joy. Waiting, Pow, Concrete Waves, Today, How you want it and Banshee are standouts, that only leaves 5 other great tracks.

Dolly Parton had a number of hits in the late '60s as Porter Wagoner's duet partner, yet solo success eluded her until her 1971 album Coat of Many Colors. The title track was a Top Ten single, and it effectively became her signature song, largely because it was a sweetly autobiographical tune about her childhood. That song, along with its two hit predecessors, "Traveling Man" and "My Blue Tears," were evidence that Parton was a strong songwriter, but the full album reveals the true depth of her talents.

The biggest selling album of Barbra Streisand's career is also one of her least characteristic. The album was written and produced by Barry Gibb in association with his brothers and the producers of the Bee Gees, and in essence it sounds like a post-Saturday Night Fever Bee Gees album with vocals by Streisand. Gibb adapted his usual style somewhat, especially in slowing the tempos and leaving more room for the vocal, but his melodic style and the backup vocals, even when they are not sung by the Bee Gees, are typical of them.

A Star Is Born is the soundtrack album to the motion picture of the same name. Of course, the main drawing card here is "Love Theme From 'A Star Is Born' (Evergreen)", the number one hit. Spurred by the hit single and the box office success of the film, A Star Is Born was the best-selling album of Barbra Streisand's career up to this point. "Evergreen", co-written by Streisand and Williams, won Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal.

The work has long been regarded as the most important set of variations composed in the baroque era. In the accompanying booklet to this CD, both Sebastien Llinares and Gilles Cantagrel cover the subject of Bach being transcribed. So called 'purists' should beware because nobody transcribed Bach's music like Bach himself - from violin to lute, from lute to harpsichord etc.“

The final album by bto and the second with the late Jim clench who had replaced randy.title track, Jamaica and minor hit heartache are the standout tracks,there is also an early Bryan Adams song called Wasting time, but by this time bto were running out of steam.it's ok but by no means a classic although you can never fault Fred turners vocals.for fans only. Rock and Roll Hell is about how music can trap an artist and leave him where he has no control over his or her career.

The first BTO album without the participation of founding member Randy Bachman, Street Action was released in 1978 and marked the debut of a heavier sound from the band, prompted by the freedom afforded the members following Randy's departure.

„Muse“ was the last album of Jones's disco trilogy recorded with producer Tom Moulton, which began in 1977 with debut „Portfolio“. As in the case of two previous records, the first side of the album is a continuous medley of four songs, joined by a narrative about someone who has sinned. The second side, however, consists of disco songs with no lyrical relation to one another. All album art, including the cover image, is by Richard Bernstein.

„Fame“ is a classic disco stormer from Grace Jones - recorded at Sigma Sound with a real Philly groove, thanks to arrangements from John Monster Davis - and produced with a full, soaring sound from the legendary Tom Moulton!

Disco mix king Tom Moulton produced these tracks at Sigma Sound in Philadelphia using the same musicians Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff held hostage for their sessions. The results are quite different: though polished, these tracks don't jump out at you. It's really a producer's album. Moulton probably had these tracks completed long before he knew who was going to sing them. Give Grace Jones credit though, she gives credence to old fuddies like "Send in the Clowns," "La Vie en Rose" is lilting, and "I Need a Man," displays a vulnerable Jones.

Hearts of Stone is the best album Bruce Springsteen never recorded. Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes were a hard-working Jersey rock-'n'-soul outfit who happened to count E-Streeter Miami Steve Van Zandt among its alumni. Van Zandt continued to contribute to the band as a writer, producer, and musician even after he'd joined Springsteen's band, and brought his boss aboard for this 1978 triumph.

If "Light Soul" was a category, it would be perfect for this record from Samantha Sang. "Emotion" was the big platinum hit from January of 1978, but there is much more to this artist and this album than a popular title track. There are three Bee Gees compositions here, "The Love Of A Woman," "Charade" and "Emotion." The Bee Gees would put a version of "Charade" on their boxed set, but it appears here first. She covers the Lai/Evans/Wells tune "When Love Is Gone," and that title gets the same production help from producers Barry Gibb, Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson that brought "Emotion" so high up the charts.

'The Whole Love' is the latest step in the ongoing evolution of Wilco, which Tweedy founded in 1994 after the dissolution of his previous group, alt-country standard-bearers Uncle Tupelo. From its raucous roots-rock origins, Wilco over the years has expanded its sound to encompass classic pop and genre-spanning experimentalism. Wilco also teamed with English singer Billy Bragg in the late '90s at the invitation of Woody Guthrie's daughter, who invited them to collaborate on setting to music some of the folk icon's previously unrecorded lyrics, resulting in a pair of highly regarded Mermaid Avenue albums.
