Bo Street Runner (and other tracks) have been hugely popular on the Mod scene over the years. The Bo Street Runners were a mid-60s British R&B/Beat band who issued a string of now-collectable 45s and a privately-pressed 100-rated EP on R.G. Jones Oak label. The bands place in the history books was secured by the future careers of drummer Mick Fleetwood and second vocalist Mike Patto.

The daughter of politician Albert Beugras and sister of writer Marie Chaix, Anne Sylvestre (born Anne-Marie Thérèse Beugras on June 20, 1934) was a French singer-songwriter who enjoyed a great deal of popularity in the 60s and 70s writing songs for both adults and children. An early advocate for social causes, her lyrics touched on delicate subjects such as abortion, homelessness, and sexual violence. Beugras grew up in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, a suburb of Lyon, and then relocated to Paris with her family, where she studied literature at the Sorbonne University before deciding to pursue a career in music in the late 50s. A staple of the Parisian cabaret scene, she was discovered by Michel Valette and soon made her way into TV and radio, gaining a considerably wider audience.

Survivor's Greatest Hits, a bare-bones, ten-song collection, was released in 1989 and quickly disappeared – vanished, out of print. It was later replaced by an identically titled 12-song collection in 1993 that is far superior because it includes "American Heartbeat" – the other hit from 1982's Eye of the Tiger album – as well as lyrics and basic liner notes. Neither compilation includes any photos, which reinforces the cruel critical notion that this Chicago pop/rock quintet was yet another faceless AOR act. Other U.S.-based bands lumped in this "corporate rock" category included Foreigner, Journey, REO Speedwagon, and Styx.

Stellar new Goldmine set of some of the great Chicago soul recorded for the One-derful and Mar-V-Lus labels – most of which has never been reissued before! The set's got 30 great cuts, and lots of it is the type of stuff that we live for (and which we can never find ourselves on 45!) Tracks include "Do The 45" by The Sharpees, "I'm Satisfied" by Johnny Sayles, "Who Are You Gonna Love?" by The Accents, "More Power To You" by Harold Burrage, "Every Beat Of My Heart" by The Du-Ettes, "Twine Time" by Alvin Cash, and more by The Blenders, Otis Clay, The Young Folk, The Admirations, The Sharpees, Beverly Shaffer, Ringleaders, and others! Very raw, with a unique soul sound that's different from the big Chicago hits of the time. © 1996-2024, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Kitaro's masterwork remains this two-record score for a Japanese TV series. His most ambitious themes and involved playing are found here. Kitaro's music is fluid and harmonic, as he blends smooth electronic lines with influences from traditional Japanese music, rock, and the romantic Western tradition. Silk Road is a phenomenal success and very possibly the best Kitaro release. There are incredible transitions throughout the pieces, making this a true masterpiece and a treasure to own. Silk Road, Vol. 2 is the second collection from Kitaro's soundtracks for the Japanese television series of the same name.

In the main, these are weighty and highly-charged performances, with a certain grandeur…Horst gives us monumental, full-blooded and noble readings of these symphonies.

Gramophone award nominees Cinquecento add another glorious recording to their Hyperion discography. This vocal sextet, comprising six professional singers from five European countries, are rapidly becoming one of the most admired early music ensembles of the time. The lithe, clear yet rich and warm tones of the six singers are the perfect instruments for the complex polyphony of the sixteenth century. Their profound collective and individual musicianship, mellifluous phrasing, perfect intonation and commitment to their chosen repertoire are clearly apparent in this gem of a disc.

Tropico is American rock singer Pat Benatar's fifth studio album, and sixth album overall, released in late 1984. It peaked at No. 14 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart and produced the Grammy-nominated Top Five Pop hit "We Belong". Other well-known songs from the album include "Painted Desert", "Outlaw Blues" and "Ooh Ooh Song" (also a Top 40 hit). A Spanish version "Ooh Ooh Song" was on the B-Side of the US single and appeared also on her 1999 compilation, Synchronistic Wanderings. Tropico was Benatar's sixth consecutive Platinum-certified album in the United States. This album is Benatar and Giraldo's first attempt to move away from Benatar's famed "hard rock" sound and start experimenting with new "gentler" styles and sounds.

Bruce Hornsby's hardest-rocking album, A Night on the Town announces that he is heading into a different direction in its first few notes. John Mellencamp's producer Don Gehman gives the sound, especially John Molo's drums, a feel reminiscent of Mellencamp's best work. The material here is among Hornsby's best, and guest players include Jerry Garcia, tenor saxman Wayne Shorter, banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck, vocalist Shawn Colvin (before she was known), and jazz bass legend Charlie Haden. The arrangements still include the mix of synthesized and real percussion, and the trademark piano licks are sprinkled abundantly throughout, but the overall feel is much more rock & roll than anything before or since.

René Thomas (1927-1975) was considered the best European jazz guitarist of his generation by fellow musicians and critics, but his career was marred by the pervasive skepticism of jazz fans. Despite trying hard to carve his own space, he never obtained the recognition he deserved for his immense talent, perhaps because of his introverted character and prolonged withdrawals from the scene.
