London Grammar announce new remix project on Ministry of Sound. The 16-track remix project will include new original material and also versions from Dot Major, Goddard, Jamie Jones, Joris Voorn, and more.

The Very Best of Sheryl Crow is a greatest hits album by American singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow, released on October 13, 2003 in the United Kingdom and November 4, 2003 in the United States. The album was a commercial success, reaching #2 on both the UK Album Chart and the Billboard 200, selling 4 million units in the US as of January 2008.

Andrew Bird on Outside Problems: I wanted to record Inside Problems outside, but this plan fell apart when it became clear that some dude with a wood chipper could really ruin our day. I did so much casual recording during the pandemic, in my backyard or in Ojai, that I gathered enough outdoor recordings to make Outside Problems. Most of these were made without any intention of making an album, just improvisations on simple themes, some of which make up the musical backbone of Inside Problems.

The Notenbuchlein (or “Little Music Book”) for Anna Magdalena Bach is one of the most affectionate and tangible means by which we can glimpse an aspect of the Bach family ‘off duty’, so-to-speak. Bach began this anthology devoted mainly to the keyboard for his second wife in 1722, having three years earlier done the same for his eldest son, Wilhelm Friedemann. Musically speaking, the most important contents are five suites which, with some additional material and a sixth suite, were to become the French Suites (BWV812-7). But it is the remaining pieces which convey such warm intimacy to us, looking, as it were, through the window.

City of Gold follows Tuttle’s acclaimed 2022 record, Crooked Tree, which won Best Bluegrass Album at the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards and led NPR Music to call her, “a female flat picker extraordinaire with agility, speed and elegance who distinctively brings American roots music into the spotlight,” adding that the album “marries the improvisatory solos of traditional bluegrass with singer-songwriter sophistication.”Produced by Tuttle and Jerry Douglas and recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios, City of Gold was inspired by Tuttle’s constant touring with Golden Highway these past few years, during which they have grown together as musicians and performers, cohering as a band. These 13 tracks—mostly written by Tuttle and Ketch Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show)—capture the electric energy of band’s live shows by highlighting each members’ musical strengths. In addition to Tuttle and Secor, Mason Via also co-wrote “Down Home Dispensary,” while Melody Walker and Shelby Means co-wrote “Next Rodeo.”

Having been ‘discovered’ working in Liverpool’s Probe Records during the punk rock explosion, Pete Burns found himself fronting his own band, Nightmares In Wax who mutated into the more familiar Dead Or Alive, eventually bringing Pete into the UK pop mainstream, and a star was born. Bringing together early singles by both Nightmares In Wax and Dead Or Alive, Peel sessions and previously unheard demos and live recordings, ‘Let Them Drag My Soul Away’ shines a light on the pre-fame Burns and a revolving cast of bandmates and collaborators, many of whom were mainstays of both the Liverpool and broader British post-punk scene.

Lori McKenna titled her album 1988 after the year she married her husband, Gene, yet the 10 songs within also serve as a love letter to lifelong friendships, people she's lost, and her family. Recorded with producer Dave Cobb in Savannah, Georgia, 1988 naturally has its nostalgic moments, even if not every ending is a happy one. With more of an electric edge than her past projects, 1988 feels in step with classic '90s albums by Sheryl Crow or Gin Blossoms, where the lyrics pulled you in as much as the melody or production. Playing together on acoustic guitars while facing one another in the studio, McKenna and Cobb tracked the album live, giving it a feeling of immediacy and authenticity.

The Newport Jazz Festival had always brought the best out in Nina Simone. When she took to that famous stage on July 2, 1966, the audience was treated to the full range of her artistry-from the opener, a breathtaking version of 'You've Got To Learn' to an electrifying performance of her signature protest anthem 'Mississippi Goddam'. Unwilling to let her leave the stage, and after sustained applause, her fans were rewarded with the show-stopping encore, 'Music For Lovers'. This previously-unknown and unreleased recording showcasing Nina's exceptional performance makes it clear why hearing Nina Simone in concert was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame E Street Band & Crazy Horse band member and solo artist Nils Lofgren returns, in stunning vinyl packaging. It's been a busy couple of years for rocker Nils Lofgren: between recording albums for Neil Young alongside Rick Rubin, and finishing his own new effort 'Mountains' Nils recently joined Bruce Springsteen and the E Street on an extensive world tour.

Starcatcher's production-helmed by Grammy winner Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell) is more stripped-down than that of 'The Battle at Garden's Gate', allowing the instrumentation to shine. Take the album's haunting, elegiac first single, 'Meeting the Master,' which at first pairs rich, wistful acoustic guitars with Josh's yearning vocals, before blooming into a classic Greta Van Fleet rock 'n' roll anthem with a majestic guitar solo and pummeling drums. Starcatcher is the sound of four musicians amplifying one another's strengths, across snarling, barnstorming rock ('The Falling Sky'), meditative, gnarled hard rock ('Sacred the Thread'), acoustic-driven pastoral folk-rock ('Farewell for Now'), and stinging psychedelic rock ('The Indigo Streak'). Occasional organ or keyboard flourishes pop out of the mix, adding texture and melodrama.

"The Ballad of Darren is the first legit [Blur] album since 13," Blur vocalist Damon Albarn recently told Consequence of Sound. Putting aside Think Tank (2003), which saw guitarist Graham Coxon's exit, and 2015's The Magic Whip (which was reportedly pieced together by Coxon after Albarn threw in the towel), that's 24 years. The world has changed… a lot. The band has changed… a lot. (Check out now-sober Coxon's entertaining memoir Verse, Chorus, Monster! for more on that.) But listening to "St. Charles Square," it's like Blur picked right back up from 1999. Coxon's woozy guitar is all over the place, a stumblebum determined to lead the way to fun. Albarn opens up the song by declaring "I fucked up" and unleashes fright-show screams and haunted-house howls. It could have been right at home on 13, and it's a delight. "Barbaric" sounds crisp and sunny—maybe the sunniest song Blur has ever done, versus the blinding camp of, say, "Girls & Boys"—even as the lyrics devastate: "And I would like if you've got the time/ To talk to you about what this breakup has done to me/ I have lost the feeling that I thought I'd never lose."
