This disc is a collection of recorded performances of Vietnam's most common stringed instruments. Included are
performances of Dan Bau, Dan Nguyet, Dan Nhi, Dan Ty Ba, and Dan Tranh. Performed in Hanoi by members of the faculty of Hanoi University of Music.

Intense and passionate, sinawi music descends from an ancient shamanic tradition (as does the solo sanjo form, of which there's an example for two-string fiddle here), but improvisation and emotional ardor are its hallmarks today. A powerful recording particularly notable for impassioned vocals (and in one case oboe lead), it's backed by equally fervent fiddles, lutes, zither and percussion.

On his fourth album My Time, Boz Scaggs' pop side truly begins to surface in earnest – or, rather, he begins to channel his smooth soul into a pop package, pushing the funky workouts that dominated the previous Boz & Band toward the background and putting emphasis directly on the song. There's still a bit of grit here – "Full-Lock Power Slide" charges forward on blaring guitars and organs – but Scaggs takes a cue from "Hello My Lover" and "Freedom for the Stallion," the Allen Toussaint tunes he covers here, and gives this an easy, relaxed feel, one that's classy and seductive without being gauche. This is elegant, soulful music, with Scaggs effortlessly hitting his marks on both the strutting "Hello My Lover" and his original heartbreak ballad "Might Have to Cry." One of the best things about My Time is how his impeccably chosen covers fit seamlessly with his originals, to the point that it's hard to tell that "Old Time Lovin'" is an Al Green tune, which also points out Scaggs growth as a songwriter. And not only are his songs getting better, they're getting more distinctive and, in retrospect, the cheerful "We're Gonna Roll," and especially the opening "Dinah Flo," point the way toward Silk Degrees.

This band came from a combination of musicians from North Carolina & South Carolina who rose from the same seeds that gave us the wonderful Uncle Walt’s Band (a blend of bluegrass harmonies & country music). This self-titled CD was originally recorded in Nashville, TN (1977) & initially produced by The Contenders & David Robert. There are 12 songs sculpted by 4 songwriters & lead vocalists who in unison managed to provide excellent musicality. The reissue was produced by Ben Runkle & Tommy Goldsmith & The Contenders (Drops July 28–Southern Moon Records) & is loaded with danceable story songs. It’s music for fun.

DYNAMIC BROADCAST RECORDING FROM STEVIE NICKS AND LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM WHILE IN THEIR PRE-FLEETWOOD MAC GUISE One of the most famous pairings in American rock music history, the story of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks begins long before they found international success with Fleetwood Mac. Starting their musical career as members of the now long-forgotten Fritz, albeit with whom they had opened for giants like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Grace Slick, when the band split in 1971, the couple relocated to Los Angeles and continued working on their music as a duo. They secured a deal with Polydor, and the classic Buckingham Nicks LP was released on 5th September 1973. Despite warm reviews and a select but dedicated radio following, the album received little attention from the press and the record was quickly deleted.

This fourth instalment of the recent symphonic output of Fridrich Bruk (born in Ukraine in 1937 but a Finnish resident since 1974) brings two earlier works – from when Bruk was merely in his late seventies. His Symphonies Nos. 15 and 16 – both predicated on Bruk’s concern for the environment – inhabit the sound-world that has become familiar from his more recent symphonies: almost a stream of consciousness expressed through wildly inventive orchestral writing in a kaleidoscope of colour and counterpoint, sitting somewhere between Villa-Lobos and Pettersson in its profligate abundance.

Andreas Romberg numbers among music history’s forgotten composers. He was celebrated as a violin virtuoso and a composer, but this did not keep him from falling through the safety net into historiographical obscurity with its often-unjust judgments. We are recording his symphonies over time in the hope that he will receive more attention as a composer. Bonn, Hamburg, and Gotha were his career stations. In 1793, while still in Bonn, he wrote his Messiah, and in 1800 he also performed it in Hamburg, his new place of work. Nuthin' Fancy is the third studio album by the Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, released in 1975. It was their first to reach the top 10, peaking at number 9 on the U.S. album chart. It was certified gold on June 27, 1975 and platinum on July 21, 1987 by the RIAA. This was the band's first record with new drummer Artimus Pyle. In late May, guitarist Ed King left the band in the middle of their "Torture Tour".

Félix Francisco Nebbia Corbacho, better known as Litto Nebbia[1] (born 21 July 1948) is an Argentine singer-songwriter, musician and producer, prominent in the development of the early Argentine rock scene.

Student of Arcangelo Corelli, Francesco Geminiani was counted among a handful of Baroque-era violin virtuosos and was equally active as a composer and educator. As someone who out of necessity wrote a great deal of music for his own instrument Geminiani was also an innovator, his music beginning to bridge the gap from the late Baroque into the early Classical. Though he is known best for his violin works, Geminiani wrote for other instrumental combinations, as well. This Concerto album highlights the six sonatas of Op. 5, scored for cello and basso continuo.

Ornate, opulent, majestic: Handel's music truly exemplifies the Baroque in its elaborate monumentality, which many listeners associate with his vast, dramatic oratorios. Perhaps lesser known, but hardly less significant is Handel's chamber music, which reveals a different kind of artistry, an intimately refined facet of the Baroque spirit. The contrast between the monumental and the intimate in Handel's music is especially interesting since he cultivated chamber music throughout his career, composing works that reflected the development of his style from its Italianate beginnings to the ultimate richness of his late idiom.
