Following it's launch in the summer of 1968, Trojan Records swiftly became the dominant force on the UK's West Indian music scene. Over the years that immediately ensued, the company released literally hundreds of 7" singles and albums, showcasing the talents of every Jamaican music maker of note. Released in 1969 and 1970, respectively, each of the albums showcases a dozen of the finest recordings to date from the catalog of leading Jamaican producer, Harry 'J' Johnson. While both LPs have long been regarded as among the finest collections from the boss reggae era of the late sixties and early seventies, neither have previously been issued in their entirety on CD. The somewhat unlikely appearance of an album's worth of show tunes from a group primarily known for R&B and pop music proves once again that Motown was producing artists and concepts that reached far beyond that of other record labels. The Supremes Sing Rodgers & Hart began as a multimedia spinoff based on the female vocal trio's appearance on the prime time ABC TV special Rodgers & Hart Today during the summer of 1966. Although the original idea that included a double LP was scrapped, the dozen tracks that made the cut are indeed the crème de la crème of savory and sophisticated stage and screen showstoppers with '60s soul. The naturally dramatic vocal delivery of the Supremes – Diana Ross, Mary Wilson, and Florence Ballard – was an obvious key to the success of their chart-topping hits "Stop! In the Name of Love," "Where Did Our Love Go," and "You Can't Hurry Love." Additionally, the trio had incorporated show tunes both into its stage performances and recordings, so the concept was not as foreign as first impressions might suggest. The mix of traditional and modern arrangements also lends to the ageless quality of the music. The album is bookended by the lavishly orchestrated "The Lady Is a Tramp" and "Blue Moon"; however, the whole of pop music is explored in between.

The Human Demands is the fifth studio album by Scottish singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald, and was released on 30 October 2020. Robert Plant opens Carry Fire with "The May Queen," a song that can't help but stir up memories of "Stairway to Heaven," the most mystical number Led Zeppelin ever cut. "The May Queen" doesn't sound a thing like "Stairway to Heaven," which is deliberate. As Plant murmurs about "the dimming of his light," the churning folk-rock – a rootless, restless gypsy hybrid of American, English, and Middle East traditions – comes to crest upon a violin line that appears to quote "Prodigal Son," a gospel blues attributed to Robert Wilkins. It's hard not to read this as a sly wink to the audience, a suggestion that Plant, after years of rambling, has returned to where he belongs.

On ne change pas (meaning We don't change) is the first comprehensive French-language greatest hits album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Columbia Records on 30 September 2005. It features songs recorded between 1981 and 2005, including three new tracks, all of which were released as singles: "Je ne vous oublie pas", "Tous les secrets" and "I Believe in You" (duet with Il Divo). "Je ne vous oublie pas" reached number two in France and was certified Silver. The other singles peaked at numbers twenty and thirty, respectively. On ne change pas received positive reviews from music critics. It reached number one in France and Belgium Wallonia, and number two in Canada and Switzerland. On ne change pas was certified 3× Platinum in France and Canada, Platinum in Belgium and Gold in Switzerland. In 2009, it was re-released under the title Best Of - 3 CD (sometimes promoted as Triple Best Of).

Have you ever wondered what the definition of underground music is? Look no further. The PLASTIC PEOPLE OF THE UNIVERSE /PPU/ were exactly that. While the western "underground" bands of the 60s and 70s might have looked a bit freaky, or were simply stoned enough to slightly shock the establishment, the PPU were jailed by the Czechoslovak communist regime solely because they dared to play their music for a bunch of long-haired fans. Nothing more, nothing less, but indirectly causing an immense political effect for the years to come. Due to all the hurdles, the PPU remained in the underground until 1988. Our collection brings together their best tracks from nearly two decades, presented in genuine fidelity underground quality.

"The ABC Years" of David Crosby and Graham Nash were the years 1975 and 1976, when the two, best known for their association with Stephen Stills and, sometimes, Neil Young, were performing as a duo and had left Atlantic Records, which issued the recordings they made with those partners, for ABC, a label later subsumed within MCA, the imprint under which this compilation has been issued. Crosby & Nash released three albums with ABC: 1975's gold-selling, Top Ten Wind on the Water, featuring the chart entry "Carry Me"; 1976's gold-selling Whistling Down the Wire, featuring the chart entry "Out of the Darkness"; and 1977's Live. By the time that last, contractually obligated, album came out, they had rejoined Stills to reform Crosby, Stills & Nash. But this brief, productive period was arguably their most impressive, alone or in tandem, outside the more popular trio/quartet. Fronting a highly regarded and high-priced Los Angeles session band sometimes called the Section (drummer Russ Kunkel, bassist Leland Sklar, guitarist Danny Kortchmar, et al.) and best known for backing James Taylor, Crosby turned out a series of his characteristic jazz-tinged tunes with self-reflective lyrics, while Nash performed pop songs on personal and political topics. Annotator Steve Silberman recalls that such Nash efforts as "Take the Money and Run" and "Mutiny" directed anger at the absent Stills and Young, though the lyrics are too vague and metaphorical for the layman to parse, especially a quarter-century later.

CLASSIC CSNY NEW YORK BROADCAST FROM THE SUMMER OF 1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young made their much publicized live debut in the summer of 1969. Their high profile set at the original Woodstock Festival was their second show together and remains their best known, but they did a substantial amount of touring that summer and performed together in Europe in January 1970. Neil Young booked a solo tour with Crazy Horse early in 1970 too, but CSNY reconvened for their second outing in the summer of 70. Déjà vu, the quartet s debut album was released in March 1970 and beginning May 12th in Denver, they played twenty-three shows through to the middle of July. The super-group performed six shows at the Fillmore East in New York from June 2nd to June 7th, the longest engagement of the tour, and while all these concerts were both recorded and filmed, only their 7th June show was broadcast across FM radio. Now featured in its entirety on this double CD, this stunning performance which features songs from CSN, Déjà vu and many of CSNY members solo records, is available here to be enjoyed by fans, almost 50 years after the show took place.
