Originally released in the mid-'80s, Hungry Years has been reissued, re-released, and remastered many times in many countries. The most common American version perhaps being the 1995 Castle issue. Short and to the point, Hungry Years includes some of the best selections from Accept's early catalog, including I'm a Rebel, Breaker, and the metal classic Restless and Wild. Rightfully, nothing is selected from the group's woeful eponymous 1979 debut. All three songs culled from Restless and Wild – including the title track, "Princess of the Dawn," and "Fast as a Shark" – are career highlights for Accept, not just the early era covered on Hungry Years.

At age 62, Tom Jones is, in a sense, making a comeback with each new recording. That is certainly the case with Mr. Jones, on which he puts himself in the hands of producers Wyclef Jean and Jerry Duplessis. Jones has never minded being the mouthpiece of a producer or two, confident enough in his own persona to stretch to meet different styles. Here, he collaborates with his partners, co-writing many of the songs. And the trio isn't afraid to take on the Jones' legend directly, starting with the lead-off track, "Tom Jones International," which even finds the singer rapping – well, sort of – in a dance-friendly paean to himself.

This high-water mark by the band finds them softening their rougher edges and stretching out into jazz territory, yet still retaining a blues foundation. There's not a bad cut here, with enough variety (bottleneck slide, acoustic guitar, horns, and strings) to warrant frequent late-night listenings. "A Hard Way to Go," "Needle and Spoon," and "Stay While the Night Is Young" are especially strong, as are two instrumental numbers. Unfortunately, leader Kim Simmonds lost his greatest asset when vocalist Chris Youlden quit for an ill-fated solo career after this recording. Youlden had one of the most distinctive voices in British blues, and Savoy would never fully recover from his exit.

The Equation of Time is the Charke-Cormier Duo’s third album and their second to feature recital programming that spans various genres and styles. Like their first album, Ex Tempore, it showcases their shared aspiration to play music both old and new, original works and arrangements, to explore the stunning timbral combination of flute and guitar. Also like their first album, The Equation of Time begins with the music of Brazilian-Canadian guitarist and composer Celso Machado. Sambamar, Machado’s second book of music for flute and guitar, is a collection of six dance-inspired pieces with evocative titles. In addition to being the composer, Machado is featured as a percussion performer on all six tracks on this recording.
