AEQUA presents a varied constellation of recent chamber pieces for smaller forces by composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir — ranging from solo piano to string ensemble — orbiting the large ensemble work Aequilibria. The album takes the listener on a journey through Thorvaldsdottir's distinctive soundworld, where sounds and nuances are as much part of the meticulously structured tapestry of the music as harmonies and lyrical material. The works are performed by the International Contemporary Ensemble, with two works conducted by Steven Schick and a work for solo piano performed by Cory Smythe.

Roger Sayer is at the forefront of British choral and organ music, recognised both as a prize-winning organist, and as an acclaimed Choral Director with some of the UK 's finest choirs. Sayer has even performed as the organ soloist in Hans Zimmer's Oscar-nominated score for the film Interstellar. Mozart called the organ the ""King of Instruments"", and this release certainly showcases its majestic qualities. Mendelssohn's Organ Sonata No.1 was inspired by Bach, and exudes an air of gravitas and profundity whilst enjoying the organ's variety of sonorities.

Since 1695 Robert de Visee (ca. 1655 - after 1732) was Maître de guitare du Roy, personal guitar teacher of the Sun King, but he also shone in the chamber concerts of the court as a virtuoso on the theorbo. Xavier Diaz-Latorre gives us here an insight into a repertoire that in De Visee's lifetime was initially reserved for exclusive circles of the French court.

Skeeter Bonn was a native of Sugarville, Illinois and gained some fame as a renowned yodeler. They called him the "Pickin' and Singin' Boy". Around 1953 or so, we was starring on the WWVA Jamboree out of Wheeling, WV each Saturday night. But later in 1954, he was appearing on the WLS National Barn Dance.
In 1949, he won the Illinois championship as a singer. He played Spanish guitar, sang hymns as well as ballads and semi-pop numbers.

"Frage" is the new album by sensational baritone Christian Gerhaher. This new album is the first of many highly anticipated projects to record all of Robert Schumann’s songs. This project will be the first time since the 1970s where a singer has devoted themselves to comprehensively perform and record Robert Schumann’s complete lieder output. Frage is produced by the Bayerischer Rundfunk and the Deutsches Liedzentrum Heidelberg.

The new project "Stille Post" by saxophonist Reto Anneler unites four independent musicians from the Swiss jazz scene. The quartet enters into dialogue in accordance with the principle of the children's game "Stille Post": sometimes citing, sometimes alienating, but always in accordance with the rules of the composition, linking the jazz tradition and contemporary music.

The pianist Vladyslav Sendecki and the Atom String Quartet release a fascinating jazz album: Le Jardin Oublié is a metaphor for the forgotten, that which is believed to be lost, and the longed for – an inner view that gazes both into the past and the future – even touching fragmentarily on the basic existentialist concepts of being and nonexistence.

With this new recording, the madly epic and romantic opera, Il Giustino, finally receives its place in the spotlight, something that the history of music has denied it up until now. The fifty-eighth recording and eighteenth opera in the Vivaldi Edition, which began in 2000, solidifies the status of Vivaldi as the greatest of opera composers - and of composers full stop.

Skeeter Davis never received much critical attention, but in the '50s and '60s, she recorded some of the most accessible crossover country music, occasionally skirting rock & roll. Born Mary Penick, Davis took her last name after forming a duo with Betty Jack Davis, the Davis Sisters. Their 1953 single "I Forgot More Than You'll Ever Know" was a big country hit; its B-side, the remarkable "Rock-a-Bye Boogie," foreshadowed rockabilly. That same year, however, the duo's career was cut short by a tragic car accident in which Betty Jack was killed and Skeeter was severely injured. Skeeter did attempt to revive the Davis Sisters with Betty Jack's sister but was soon working as a solo artist.

David Sinclair Whitaker was an English composer, songwriter, arranger, and conductor who was most active in the 1960s and 1970s. Whitaker, who was born in Kingston upon Thames, collaborated with many prestigious British and French artists including Air, Etienne Daho, Marianne Faithfull, Claude François, Serge Gainsbourg, France Gall, Johnny Hallyday, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Page (for the soundtrack to Death Wish II), Saint Etienne, Simply Red and Sylvie Vartan, and other international artists including Lee Hazlewood, Kings of Convenience and Francesco De Gregori.

Michel Legrand has made his fame and fortune from writing for films, but he has done significant work in jazz on an occasional basis. In 1957, he arranged a set of Dixieland and swing standards for a French orchestra (recorded on Philips), in 1958 he used three different all-star groups for the classic Legrand Jazz (with such sidemen as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Phil Woods, Herbie Mann, Bill Evans, Ben Webster, Art Farmer, and others), in 1968 he recorded a strictly jazz set with a trio and Legrand has written for albums led by Stan Getz (1971), Sarah Vaughan (1972), and on several occasions, Phil Woods. Several of his songs (such as "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life," "Watch What Happens," and "The Summer Knows") have been recorded many times by jazz musicians.

Not surprisingly, Robert Goulet's Woman, Woman is preoccupied with love. This album is worth tracking down for the title track alone. It's big Vegas sound will be popular with fans of Tom Jones, et al. It is soft enough to be sweet and bombastic enough to be fun and cheesy. The other tracks include "What a Wonderful World," "Do You Know the Way to San Jose," and "Love Is Blue." A good, dramatic pop album by one of the masters. Recommended for those looking for the right Goulet album with just enough kitsch to make it fun but not so much that it is unlistenable. Start here.
