With Le Jardin de Monsieur Rameau, William Christie invites us to take a pleasant walk in the beautiful garden of French vocal music from the XVIIIth Century. Featured composers include Rameau and his contemporaries, and the repertoire ranges from opera highlights and profane cantatas to instrumental interludes. Christie's program presents a vivid overview of the music that was played in Versailles at the peak of its splendor. The album's vocal soloists are young singers who took part in Le Jardin des Voix (The Garden of Voices) - a biannual musical academy led by William Christie and Paul Agnew that is designed to unveil the most promising talents of the coming generation.

Recorded in 1951, this recording features Wilhelm Furtwängler leading the Wiener Philharmoniker in one of the most infamous readings of Bruckner's Symphony No.4. The legendary maestro is also joined by the Berlin Philharmonic for the Good Friday Music from Wagner's Parsifal.

This group is further evidence that jazz is a universal music knowing neither language nor geographic boundary. The countries represented at this session are Italy, Holland, England/ Belgium (Philip Catherine), and the United States, all recording for a Dutch label. The session is a bit of a departure by leader and bop artist Enrico Pieranunzi in that it is devoted to the exploration of standard material. Perhaps this is due to the presence of one of the more lyrical guitar players around these days, former wunderkind Catherine. Whatever, Pieranunzi does not leave behind his use of modern jazz figures to give new luster to these standards.

Svjatoslav Richter, unlike his childood friend Gilels, was not an ardent proponent of Brahms' repertoire. Considering that in 1948 Richter performed only the famous Concerto in B flat, Op. 81, this rare recital makes the young Brahms come across as an intuitive, even prophetic composer rather than merely discursive.

The fifth release in Praga's Richter Edition, which presents SACD remasters of classic albums by the great Russian pianist Sviatoslav Richter, features live recordings of Beethoven sonatas from the 60s and 70s. This disc includes three of the 'late' sonatas, including a particularly memorable Hammerklavier. The program also features the Piano Sonatas Nos.27 and 28 in performances that simultaneously emphasize the legato elements and display Richter's prodigious interpretive talents to the fullest.
