The Italian-born William Tatge, son of American parents, moved to New York in 2008, where he found his own musical voice. By listening to his new work, General Cargo, inspired by cultural and historical experiences, one may conclude he applies some of the lyricism from his former teachers - Stefano Bollani and Enrico Pieranunzi - as a reference but expands them into new musical horizons, concurrently probing and intimate.

Singer/songwriter Alex Hepburn is no stranger to success internationally, having already achieved a platinum album in France, and gold in Switzerland with her debut record Together Alone. However, her new single "I Believe" is actually her first full release in the UK. The record is a rousing feminist anthem that draws on the strengths of her influences which include Etta James, Adele, Mary J Blige and Aretha Franklin. Incidentally Aretha's vocals were sampled on the record, and form some sort of vocal lining behind the soulful backdrop produced by Craigie Dodds and Pete Boxsta. The single showcases Alex's smooth, soul-drenched vocals and her free-spirited approach to song-writing (co-written by Chris Ballard).

More than 120 years after the death of Johannes Brahms, the answer to this question would seem to be a foregone conclusion. Not even Arnold Schoenberg’s essay “Brahms the Progressive”, famed at least for its title, has done anything substantial to change it. Schoenberg pointed to the asymmetry and irregularity of Brahms’s phrase structure, his stern adherence to and sharpening of Beethoven’s technique of dislodging the “strong” beats until the rhythm as we previously knew it fully dissolves. What we hear as downbeats are more likely to be upbeats, and vice versa.

Well lucky that.’ “Me and Jasper,” from Luluc’s third album Sculptor, is a confident challenge to small-town insularity, lilting yet vigilant, and championed by a defiant guitar solo from the band’s friend J Mascis. It’s a reflection on a common pitfall of adolescence; limitless possibility battling constant obstruction. “My own experiences as a teen were often fraught” says songwriter and vocalist Zoe Randell. “The small town I grew up in provided a great study in gossip, scandal, character assignation and the willingness of people to go along with it.” It’s a song about fighting for agency on an album that is in many ways about volition and potential; how people can navigate difficulties and opportunities to create different paths.

"Sundays" is the debut full length from Oakland-based Tanukichan, aka multi-instrumentalist Hannah van Loon. At surface level, the album sounds just how the title describes: hazy, dreamy, reflective, just like a lazy Sunday afternoon. Still Run is the new album from Brooklyn, NY based alternative band Wet, and is the follow up to the band's critically acclaimed debut album Don't You from 2016. Still Run shows Wet with a more upbeat and pop driven sound than their debut. The band's new sound and new outlook, is informed by lead singer and songwriter Kelly Zutrau taking more creative control of the project. Much of Wet's shift stems from Zutrau's more forceful vocals, which allow her direct, yet poetic lyrics to resonate more deeply, and which leap out of the sunnier production. Producers like Rostam (Haim, Solange), Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief), and John Hill (Santigold, M.I.A.) assisted primary producer and Wet band member Joe Valle, who brings a new comfort level to his production style, presenting dark lyrics in a brighter way that highlights their innate intensity and lets Zutrau's songwriting shine.

"Everyday Life, Everyday People" is the ninth album of the Californian group Slightly Stoopid, who recreate the relaxed sound of the West Coast with their mix of folk, reggae, hip-hop, funk and punk. Slightly Stoopid formed in the mid-1990s starting to release punk-tinged and surf-inspired albums. 2005s Closer To The Sun (2005) broadened their musical palette further and featured collaborations with reggae artists such as Barrington Levy and Scientist, before 2007s Chronchitis provided their first Billboard hit album (no. 55 debut, no. 2 indie chart).

GRAMMY-winning band The National are pleased to announce a CD version of their very special Record Store Day release - a live recording of their seminal album, Boxer. Following the release of their 2017 album, "Defying Gravity", Mr. Big set out on a trek that took them all over the world to promote the new release in a live setting. Anyone who has ever had the distinct pleasure of seeing the band live knows that the virtuoso musicianship and incredible vocals are on full display in this setting. By this time, drummer Pat Torpey's battle with Parkinson's Disease had been made public, but Pat toured with the band regardless and sat behind the drum kit for select songs, while alsoproviding background vocals, tambourine, etc. on other tracks when Matt Starr was taking his turn on the kit.
