Henri Dutilleux's work has been gaining attention through a number of significant recent recordings. Esa-Pekka Salonen recorded his Correspondances with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and Ludovic Morlot has recorded both his symphonies, as well as other works, as the new conductor of the Seattle Symphony. This opportunity to experience and appraise his work casts him as among the most significant French composers of the late twentieth century.

Academy-Award nominated and Grammy nominated writer, singer, actor, producer and director Seth MacFarlane releases his first ever Christmas album following his critically acclaimed 2011 debut, Music Is Better Than Words. Once again, MacFarlane teams up with composer, arranger, and producer Joel McNeely. The album features a 52-piece orchestra recorded at the iconic Abbey Road Studios and a bevy of London's premiere players. Among the musicians in the orchestra are jazz legend Peter Erskine on drums and former Frank Sinatra bassist Chuck Berghoffer.

On Nostalgia, Annie Lennox pays tribute to some of the greatest artists of the 20th century including Hoagy Carmichael, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Billie Holiday and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and interprets compositions that have moved her, stripping them down to their emotional and musical core and making them her own. On their premiere recording, the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir, directed by celebrated choral conductor Ralph Allwood, perform the works of British Choral Award winner Roderick Williams. Based in Greenwich, East London the choir is comprised of both students from the conservatoire (including several choral scholars) as well as outstanding volunteer singers.

It is a great pleasure for Le Palais des Dugustateurs to produce Trio Arc’s first recording (featuring Irina Chkourindina on piano, and Ardina and Jan Nehring on strings). This programming of this recording is very cleverly though out, featuring three trios, including Beethoven’s famous trio, “The Spirits,” Frank Martin’s Trio on Irish melodies, and Brahms’ Second Trio. You will be sensitive to the sincerity of musicians who do not force, and do not fall into any easy excesses. You will be convinced by their sober interpretation, without chatter, very precise and which remains always musical.

On the eve of his centenary in 2018, Sony Classical releases the most important collection, Leonard Bernstein’s classic American Columbia recordings, remastered from their original 2- and multi-track analogue tapes. This has allowed for the creation of a natural balance (for example, between the orchestra and solo instruments) that brings the quality of these half-century-old recordings, excellent for their time, up to the standards of today’s audiophiles. In addition, there has been a meticulous restoration of some earlier masterings in which LP surface noise was too rigorously eliminated at the expense of the original brilliance.

Judy Collins turned 76 this year, but her voice still sounds as clear and pure as it did when she first sang Both Sides Now back in 1976. An undisputed American music icon, Collins was among the first to cover both Dylan and Cohen as well as bringing the work of Jacques Brel to a wider audience. Not to mention the fact that her spine-tingling version of Amazing Grace featured in the UK charts on eight separate occasions between 1970 and 1972, peaking at #5 and spending an incredible 75 weeks on the charts in total.

In this album the Würzburg Cathedral Girls’ Choir presents its listeners precious musical pearls, 19th and 20th centuries’ choir literature for Advent and Christmas. In the first part the coir works concentrate on the topics of „Advent“, „the Holy Virgin Mary“ and „Christmas“.

In the third disc in their acclaimed series, Harry Christophers and the Handel and Haydn Society present a new live recording devoted to the master of the symphony – Joseph Haydn. This disc showcases Haydn’s Symphony No. 8 Le soir, which completes the trilogy written for Prince Paul Anton Esterházy. Also included is the later Symphony No. 84 which shows just how much Haydn’s symphonies had transformed from those early years.

A classical cellist, soloist of the Orchestre symphonique de la Monnaie, involved in chamber music, jazz/ rock and folk/fiddle meets an eclectic pianist familiar with Bach, Chopin, Franck or Corrigliano as much as with jazz and improvisation. Loco Motive Trio and Blade Runner band for the first one, Soledad for the second one and until 2014, Trio Talweg for both of them (founded in 2004 with Sébastien Surel) : Sébastien Walnier and Alexander Gurning pride very seriously opening up musical approaches, faithful to each musical style they play and free to travel from one world to another. Between «walking» and «awakening», Walning explores different musical styles in all simplicity.

There are various ways that one can approach making a Christmas album as an artist. One can adhere to the classics, singing them the wat they were recorded back in the 1950s or 1960s, or you can take a completely original style – a la Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton’s 1984 classic disc Once Upon A Christmas.

Songwriter and country singer Kacey Musgraves was born in East Texas, and made her stage debut at eight years old. One year later, she was writing her own songs and learning to play several instruments, including guitar, harmonica, and mandolin. She self-released three albums before catching a break when she appeared as a contestant on the 2007 season of the American Idol-styled television show Nashville Star. She came in seventh in the competition, but the exposure allowed her to make some inroads on the Nashville music scene, and she began placing songs with major country artists like Martina McBride and Miranda Lambert.
