A new deluxe version of Lori McKenna’s acclaimed album, 1988, will be released next Friday, November 10 via CN Records/Thirty Tigers. In addition to the record’s original ten songs, the extended edition will also feature acoustic versions of five album tracks: “1988,” “Killing Me” feat. Hillary Lindsey, “Wonder Drug,” “Happy Children” and “The Town In Your Heart” feat. Hillary Lindsey.

“Brock, Lanzetti, Ogawa” is the moniker for a new trio whose members are widely known through their association with the jazz-funk group Snarky Puppy. Zach Brock (4 and 6 string violins), Bob Lanzetti (acoustic and electric guitars), and Keita Ogawa (percussion) formed their new trio during the Covid-19 pandemic. Their music is an eclectic mix of styles that includes elements of jazz, folk, experimental, ambient, groove, and world music, and there is an emphasis on compositions that feature improvisation. The debut album by “Brock, Lanzetti, Ogawa,” entitled Drawing Songs, is set to be released November 2023 on GroundUp Music with a tour to follow.

With a group of master musicians for guides, the album is a showcase for one of the great bassists in jazz, and exhilarating music for the listener.

For the seventh volume in this collection devoted to Mozart by the younger generation of soloists, the award-winning Austrian pianist Aaron Pilsan records the concerto K.459 with the ORF Radio Symphonieorchester in Vienna. French horn player Nicolas Ramez records one of his favourite concertos, the first of Mozart's four horn concertos.

Washington's third and final Capitol outing isn't nearly as memorable as her first two. There are pleasant moments to be found in the sullen "Don't Be an Island" and the rich "One More Night" (the latter covered in 1987 by Ana), but the overall tone is too formulaic and bland for the soulful vocalist's highly deserving pipes.
