The Swedish Jazz Kings third Opus 3 release is a swinging tribute to Louis Armstrong. Concentrating on a period when Louis was revolutionizing the shape of jazz music, this album contains many tunes from Armstrong's early repertoire. The sound, as captured by the talented Opus 3 engineers, is even more stunning on SACD. Highly Recommended.

Pianist Giovanni Guidi and trombonist Gianluca Petrella, key figures in what some are hailing as a “golden age” of Italian jazz, found their strong improvisational rapport inside Enrico Rava’s band and, eager for more, they formed a duo. For this studio recording, they are joined by American drummer Gerald Cleaver and French clarinetist Louis Sclavis on a set of music by turns introspective and outgoing, showcasing lyrical free improvising and tunes composed by Guidi and Petrella.

Group leader on the album 'Reciprocity' is the French drummer Olivier Le Goas. He played in New York and in France, England and the US made some name. For this CD he invited three American musicians: pianist Kevin Hays, bassist Phil Donkin and guitar prodigy Nir Felder. Hays has worked with a host of big names in jazz. Donkin is currently playing in Germany among others trombonist Nils Wogram. And New Yorker Felder has now built up the necessary reputation. His guitar is almost as clean tuned as those of Pat Metheny in his jazz trios. All four are dyed in the wool. And you can hear that. The title of the CD interaction in Dutch, is typical of the music. Bowman Trio is a group of young musicians from Helsinki, Finland who appreciate the American jazz tradition and personal approach to music. Their sound comes from the American West Coast-style, which is often described as cool and mellow.
