The Movement, Revisited: A Musical Portrait of Four Cultural Icons is culminating documentation of a richly inspired piece - lauding four key figures of the Civil Rights Movement: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali. Marshalling his ever-sharpening skills as a composer, arranger, conductor, musician and lyricist, McBride has created a historically and culturally illuminating five-part suite for an 18-piece big band, chorus and narrators that places the motivating forces as well as the goals of the Civil Rights Movement within a powerfully relevant artistic context.

‘72 Angels is a large-scale work for mixed choir and saxophone quartet. It is structured as seventytwo prelude-evocations and an epilogue. Each prelude sets to music one of the seventy- two names derived from an esoteric interpretation of Exodus 14:19-21. Angelic beings, spiritual guides, higher energies or messengers are a common theme throughout many belief systems in human history. My intention in 72 Angels was to focus on what the religious, spiritual, esoteric and mythological traditions of different cultures have in common. I would like to focus on what unites us through shared connections. These seventy-two evocations celebrate all angels in their multifaceted variations… My hope is that every listener or musician will adopt his or her own personal interpretation’ - Lera Auerbach The voices of the Netherlands Chamber Choir, directed by Peter Dijkstra, bring these angels to life here, accompanied by the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet.

Erlend Viken has composed a striking and personal work in the winter, performed together with a stellar team of musicians. Frida Ånnevik has contributed two lyrics, sung by Ellen Andrea Wang and Marius Graff. Erlend is one of Norway's most accomplished folk musicians and in recent years has invested in his trio Erlend Viken Trio, which takes the folk music out of the box and shows a strong need for exploration. This commissioning work further emphasizes the exploration of the exploration, the different phases of winter from the last to the highly rhythmic, through a work in which the peculiar features of folk music are shrouded in the background of fellow musicians in jazz and pop.

Gülşah Erol is an Istanbul-based artist actively as a composer / interpreter in different styles and genres. She developed a passion for avant-garde and experimental performance, as well as film scoring. She has composed music for four documentaries centered around Turkish and Armenian relations, and contributed as a cellist to numerous award-winning films, including Atlıkarınca (Merry-Go-Round) and Gişe Memuru (Toll Booth). Her film work has earned her numerous honors including Radikal Public Jury award (2010) and Best Golden Tulip award (2011). Outside of her film work, Gülşah has toured with acclaimed orchestras and new music ensembles across Europe, including ABSTRA and Birds Ensemble.
