The French violinist Ginette Neveu was just 30 when her plane crashed in the Azores in October 1949. She had studied with George Enescu and Carl Flesch, and as The Observer wrote in 1945, “Her playing was superbly vigorous and passionate, and made the impression that its great qualities, such as eloquent phrasing and an apparently limitless range and variety of tone, came from the only true source – an identity with the music and with her instrument.” Her complete recordings, specially remastered from the best sources available, are gathered on these four CDs, with her incandescent Sibelius Concerto taking pride of place.

Rocketman is a 2019 biographical musical drama film based on the life of musician Elton John. The film is directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Lee Hall. The film follows John's early days as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music up to his eventual musical partnership with Bernie Taupin. The film is titled after John's 1972 song "Rocket Man".

This June, The Prince Estate, in partnership with Warner Bros. Records will release Originals, a 15-track album featuring 14 previously unreleased recordings that illuminate the vital role Prince played in other artists’ careers.

2012 marked the end of a recording pause for Caro Josee. After several years away from the industry, her reappearance with the appropriately titled “Turning Point” convinced her listening audience and surprised the media. The album presented songs with substance taken from the world of a woman in the midst of life. Expressive sounds reflecting her strength, maturity and self-assurance put the icing on the cake. The reward for a work deeply rooted in Gypsy Jazz was an ECHO JAZZ award for “Vocalist of the Year, National”.

Letting the cat out of the bag right away when introducing a new CD might not be ‘stylish’, but the Emil Brandqvist Trio has honestly delivered a masterpiece called “Falling Crystals” (SKP 9135). Over the last few years drummer Emil Brandqvist from Gothenburg, Sweden played his way into the intimate upper ranks of European Jazz; his trio stands for low-key, picturesque, touching melodies and sounds that remain with listeners. Together with pianist Tuomas Turunen from Finland and Max Thornberg from Stockholm on double bass, one of the trademarks for this multinational Scandinavian ensemble has been that the trio eagerly brings in guests to the studio to put the finishing brushstrokes on their audiophonic paintings.
