At the heart of Jamestown Revival is a friendship that spans over a decade. Jonathan Clay and Zach Chance grew up together in the small Texas town of Magnolia. From a young age, they shared a love for music as well as the outdoors. About an hour north of Magnolia TX, there was some old family land with a dilapidated ranch house where they spent the better part of their adolescence.

Mike Zito has walked many roads. At 44, his backstory is a travelogue that starts in Missouri and finds salvation in Texas, pinballs from solo career to supergroup (and back), dices with both death and glory. And yet, wherever his career leads him, Mike always returns to his founding values of honest, original songs, drawn from the emotional depths, twisting the great American genres into bold new shapes. “Keep Coming Back is all in the title,” explains the songwriter of his latest release on Ruf Records. “I love the blues, I love rock ‘n’ roll and I love country music. It’s what I do and who I am.”

Mathieu Fromont is a multi-instrumentalist, multi-skilled producer and arranger who has been working regularly since 1994 and is rightly regarded as being at the forefront in the European blues world. Whether leading his Bo Weavil trio (his first band) or his new group, his sharp and mesmerizing guitar playing and his incantatory singing produce a unique blues roots style that hits the mark instantly. Always in search of new ideas, Mathieu Fromont is starting a new collective experience with Bo Weavil & Band. As a true alchemist of the blue note, he managed to gather the best blues practitioners from France to give birth to “A Son of Pride”.

For composer and legendary Russian art and music figure Stas Namin, the current state of the world points towards a trajectory of violence and dissonance, as humanity curiously turns from a collective to an individual mind. This dissonance, drama, and the cosmic cycle of breaking down and rebuilding is translated through the power of the London Symphony Orchestra, in an epic performance born from a philosophical pondering of the state of humanity. Born in 1951, Stas Namin is a musician, composer and producer, artist and photographer, theatre and movie director, founder and leader of The Flowers rock band, producer of Gorky Park rock band, along with numerous other ventures. As a composer, he has written songs for his rock groups as well as two feature films and one animated feature. He has also recorded two guitar albums and the One World Music Freedom ethnic album which featured artists from all over the world.

The horns are let loose! In their fifth GENUIN release, the german hornsound brass ensemble has brought together their favorite works and those of their fan community. And we’d be hard-pressed to find a single work in the Western musical literature that doesn’t sound at least as beautiful arranged for four horns as it does in the original. What’s more, there’s no need for troublesome singers, meddlesome conductors, and big stages for massive orchestras! In these splendid renditions, Handel’s Rinaldo, Dvořák’s Ninth Symphony, and Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream are both glorious and groovy, exquisite and ethereal, sophisticated and sexy. On her GENUIN debut release, splendid Polish pianist Aleksandra Mikulska presents Franz Liszt’s reminiscences of the great loves of his life: they include both people and places as well as his own works that had grown dear to him. With broad musical lines and a wonderfully sensuous tone, the Special Prize-winner at the 15th International Frédéric Chopin Competition breathes new life into some of the most beautiful works of the repertoire: the Liebestraum and Hungarian Rhapsody, the Jota and the celebrated Frühlingslied, an arrangement of the song by Robert Schumann—a true delight for piano lovers!

Vicent Morelló, solo flutist of the Royal Seville Symphony Orchestra, and Daniel del Pino explore the influence of the gypsy music in the classical repertoire with this exciting programme, ranging from the rhapsodic and sentimental virtuosity of Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen to the Hungarian folk-inspired lyricism of Béla Bartók’s masterpiece. Captivating and virtuoso performances for a stunning recording.

After leaving the stage to guest performers on the Friday of this four-day weekend, Dead & Company returned on Saturday for another muy caliente show. Although there may have been some cognitive dissonance involved in hearing a song about a dark and sketchy urban thoroughfare played on a gorgeous sunny beach, that didn’t stop the show-opening “Shakedown Street” from getting those dancing feet busy kickin’ up some sand, and the infectiously funky groove inspired John Mayer to lead his bandmates on a brief and enjoyable detour into Billy Preston’s 1970s hit “Will It Go Round In Circles.”

In 1967 four young musicians from Nottinghamshire, England formed Ten Years After. Alvin Lee, Chick Churchill, Ric Lee & Leo Lyons became one of the most explosive quartets on the world stage and cemented themselves as one of the biggest bands in Rock 'n Roll history. The band scored eight Top 40 albums on the UK Albums Chart and twelve multimillion selling albums on the US Billboard 200 between 1967 and 1974.

You can be angry with the injustices of life, complain about them, surrender to them - or you can tell them to fight! Michael van Merwyk has opted for the second variant. With "Fight The Darkness" presents the 2-meter man with the emotional, rough voice his first solo album. And that comes uncompromisingly reduced - a man, a guitar. Everything recorded "live" in the studio. One take per song, no overdubs.

"This voice can do anything!" Mutzke has already impressively demonstrated his stylistic versatility with a successful jazz album and his last album MAX. For "Experience", which was created to accompany a fantastic concert, Mutzke and Band teamed up with the NDR Radiophilharmonie, an orchestra that is at home both in classical and pop music. It was directed by Enrique Ugarte, in whose new arrangements the chosen songs gained completely new symphonic dimensions.
