The Chineke! Orchestra return to Signum in a new live orchestral recording from the Royal Festival Hall, London. Drawn from exceptional musicians from across the continent, the orchestra is part of the Chineke! Foundation – a non-profit organization that provides career opportunities to young Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) classical musicians in the UK and Europe. Their motto is ‘Championing Change and Celebrating Diversity in Classical Music’.

Arrangements and original works for an unusual combination, celebrating the virtuosity of the Romantic-era bassoon.

A widely respected tunesmith and maverick recording artist, Chris Gantry was the sort of outlaw presence in 1960s Nashville who later became associated with his better-known peers like Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash. A native of New York, Gantry was already an industry veteran by the time he reached Music City at the age of 21, having scored a short-lived recording deal with a friend in his early teens. Once in Nashville, he cut his teeth at bars like Skull's Rainbow Room, a Printers Alley burlesque where he met other up-and-comers like Kristofferson and Shel Silverstein.

Eminem's 10th studio album titled Kamikaze. The 13-track album includes the song “Venom,” which will feature in the upcoming film of the same name. The disc also includes two songs featuring Jessie Reyez. The cover shows the rear end of a fighter plane – recalling a similar cover of the Beastie Boys’ 1986 album “Licensed to Ill.” The rapper dropped the album just after midnight Thursday, tweeting: “Tried not 2 overthink this 1… enjoy.”

“The Intimidation Game” is the debut single from the forthcoming The Journey: Champions video game soundtrack! The album features score by acclaimed composers Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe, who are regular collaborators. This is not the first time that Lakeshore has released a video game soundtrack from this duo, and we”re thrilled to have this opportunity again in partnership with EA Games!

Originally, this album was intended to be Eldbjorg Hemsing’s recording debut, but the repertoire interest in what became her debut (Borgstrom and Shostakovich) swayed the label and they changed the plan accordingly. Rarely has a recording debut had the impact of Eldbjorg’s debut album, and she has since been catapulted into international awareness in a very short time.

"Playing the demanding and constantly shifting string quartet repertory is enough to fill up four lives… Buoyed up by this heritage, we wanted to explore less well-known territories. In the early years of the twentieth century, Bartók and Kodály roamed the villages of Hungary and Romania, collecting, transcribing and recording hundreds of folk tunes and songs. Building on a number of encounters with leading figures of jazz and world music, we asked five instrumentalist-composers to write us pieces inspired by musical worlds to which they feel close.

The French tenor Julien Behr is one of today’s rising vocal stars. Voted ‘Révélation artiste lyrique de l’Adami’ in 2009, the year he made his international debut at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, he has become famous for his Mozart roles (including Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, recorded live at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in 2016 under the direction of Jérémie Rhorer, Alpha379).

Faust at war: Histoire du soldat, premiered in September 1918, pays tribute to all those who died in a war that was drawing to an end. The soldier wagers his soul and his fiddle, which will not save him. The Devil always wins. Inspired by the fine text by Ramuz, Stravinsky’s music evokes parades, the circus, jazz . . . Three peerless storytellers – Denis Podalydès, Didier Sandre, Michel Vuillermoz – and seven instrumentalists; they too play as if their life depended on it, instilling this recording with an energy as expressive as it is Mephistophelean.

Vivaldi wrote hundreds of violin concertos, yet even this tiny sample of six, written during the composer’s visit to Prague between 1730 and 1731, demonstrates in every movement his genius of harmonic and dramatic surprise. Each concerto is startlingly original, from the opening movement of the E Minor RV 278 that pits daring solo passages against a hypnotic, pulsing orchestra, while the same concerto’s Largo even feels modern in its angularity. A more familiar Vivaldi can be heard in the C Major RV 186, with its Italianate innocence and winsome middle Largo. But whatever the composer’s mood, Fabio Biondi and Europa Galante thrill to his ingenuity at every step.

After her recording of the "Nocturnes" by Frederic Chopin, Claire Huangci dedicates this new recording to another major project: "The Rachmaninov Préludes". As a foretaste of the album, which will be released on September 28th, another track can now be heard in advance!

Following his first two solo albums, streaming sensation Joep Beving releases new reworks of his music by acclaimed and up-and-coming artists such as iconic “synth legend” Suzanne Ciani, CFCF, Tom Trago and more. Conatus features reworks of pieces from Solipsism and Prehension and also foreshadows his next solo album with a rework of one of Beving’s new tracks.

To Anders Aarum, a split personality can actually add to the magic. Shakin' Our Souls proves the point, feeling like three albums blended into one: On the one hand, it offers driven, classically schooled jazz. On the other dreamy beatscapes propelled by pulsating grooves. And thrown in for good measure, there's also the occasional excursion into atmospheric electronics. Aarum won't even decide which instrument to focus on: Rhodes, Moog or just the piano? Thankfully for the listener, he just can not decide.

The Earls of Leicester, the Grammy award-winning sextet that comprises some of the finest musicians in bluegrass, will release their third album, Live at The CMA Theater in The Country Music Hall of Fame, September 28 on Rounder Records. Track “Long Journey Home” is available now.
