Vienna is the fourth studio album by British new wave band Ultravox, first released on Chrysalis Records on 11 July 1980. The album was the first made by Ultravox with their best-known line-up, after Midge Ure had taken over as lead vocalist and guitarist following the departures of John Foxx and Robin Simon, and it was also the group's first release for Chrysalis. Vienna was produced by renowned German producer Conny Plank who had also produced Ultravox's previous album Systems of Romance, and mixed at Plank's studio near Cologne, Germany. In terms of sales, the album had a slow start, but the release in January 1981 of the title track as the third single from the album heralded the band's commercial breakthrough worldwide and led to healthy sales throughout 1981. Vienna peaked at number 3 in the UK Albums Chart and reached the top ten in Australia, New Zealand and several European countries.

Pillars of California rock, the Eagles get the box set treatment with 2024's To the Limit: The Essential Collection. Released by archival specialists Rhino Records in conjunction with the band's longtime label Elektra, the wealth is spread between three discs that collate highlights from the Eagles' seven studio LPs including the 2007 comeback album Long Road Out of Eden. They surfaced on vinyl on Ultra Rare Trax Vol. 1 on Swinging Pig (TSP 001) and have been featured on countless compact disc reissues including Ultra Rare Trax Vol. 1 on The Swingin' Pig (TSP-CD-001), Ultra Rare Trax Vol. 4 on The Swingin' Pig (TSP-CD-026), Unsurpassed Masters Vol. 3 on Yellow Dog (YD003.). In 1999 Vigotone released the John Barrett tapes on Turn Me On Dead Man (VIGO-178/179). In 1997 It's Not Too Bad was released by Pegboy (1008) which revealed twenty additional mintues of "Strawberry Fields Forever" outtakes dating from its initial conception in Spain in 1966 and Lennon's Kenwood home before going into the studio.

The Parachute Years: 1977–1981 is a compilation album 7-CD box set by John Zorn. It features recordings of Zorn's game pieces originally released as self-produced albums on the Parachute label as well as previously unreleased performances. All of the discs in this box set have been subsequently given their own releases on Zorn's Tzadik label. The first two discs feature Zorn's 1977 composition Lacrosse. The first disc was recorded at WKCR in June 1978 and features Mark Abbott, Polly Bradfield, Eugene Chadbourne, and LaDonna Smith and Zorn on 6 different takes of "Lacrosse". Takes 3, 4 and 6 were originally released on the Parachute Records double LP School (1978). The second disc is the original recording of "Lacrosse" which was made by Eugene Chadbourne, Henry Kaiser, Bruce Ackley, and Zorn (dubbed "Twins") in San Francisco, California in June 1977. The third disc features 17 takes (four electric and thirteen acoustic) of the composition Hockey. Five of these takes were first released on vinyl on Parachute Records in 1980, (tracks 4-9), along with Pool which features on disc four. The final three discs feature Zorn's Archery composition in previously unreleased rehearsal takes and versions released on Parachute Records in 1982.

Mr. Bad Guy is the first solo album from Queen singer, Freddie Mercury. Released in 1985, during a period in which Queen were on hiatus from recordings, it contains eleven songs, all written by him. It was dedicated "to my cat Jerry—also Tom, Oscar and Tiffany, and all the cat lovers across the universe—screw everybody else". For the album, Mercury compiled influences ranging from disco to dance music. It was a contrast to typical Queen work, as they were rock-orientated. The album took nearly two years to record as Mercury had to gather enough material, while committing to band activities. Initially, the album was supposed to feature duets with Mercury and Michael Jackson.

A collection of the best of Rory Gallagher's selected BBC live performances. The 2 CDs include 11 songs selected from studio recordings made by Rory Gallagher for the BBC, and 13 songs from The Venue performance broadcast on "BBC in Concert Live" in 1979. These recordings celebrate the importance of the artist Rory Gallagher, who was possibly the most recorded musician in the 1970s by the BBC.
