Stevie Ray Vaughan had always been a phenomenal guitarist, but prior to In Step, his songwriting was hit or miss. Even when he wrote a classic modern blues song, it was firmly within the genre's conventions; only on Soul to Soul's exquisite soul-blues "Life Without You" did he attempt to stretch the boundaries of the form. As it turns out, that was the keynote for In Step, an album where Vaughan found his own songwriting voice, blending blues, soul, and rock in unique ways, and writing with startling emotional honesty.

Sneak Me In is the seventh album by Lucifer's Friend, an album in which Mike Starrs, formerly of Colosseum II, replaced John Lawton on vocals for a second time. This album and the previous Good Time Warrior (1978) were an attempt at a more commercial, accessible style which met with limited success. Starrs was replaced by the returning Lawton, for 1981's Mean Machine.

Santana, which was renowned for its concert work dating back to Woodstock, did not release a live album in the U.S. until this one, and it's only partially live, with studio tracks added, notably a cover of the Zombies' "She's Not There" (number 27) that became Santana's first Top 40 hit in five years. The usual comings and goings in band membership had taken place since last time; the track listing was a good mixture of the old – "Black Magic Woman," "Soul Sacrifice" – and the recent, and with the added radio play of a hit single, Moonflower went Top Ten and sold a million copies, the first new Santana album to do that since 1972 and the last until Supernatural in 1999.

Safe at Home, Gram Parsons' first full-length album (and the only LP he would record with the International Submarine Band), today sounds like a dry run for the country-rock he would later perfect with the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers; it's also a major changeup from the psychedelically shaded pop/rock of the ISB's hard to find debut singles. In many ways, the album sounds more purely "country" than Parsons' best-known work; the Burritos' crucially important R&B edge had yet to make its presence felt in Gram's music, and on these sessions the rock influence is often more felt than heard (probably due in part to the presence of Nashville session veterans who pitched in on piano and pedal steel).

Crash is the fifth studio album by English singer-songwriter Charli XCX, released on 18 March 2022. It is her last album to be released under her current record contract with Atlantic Records. Charli announced the album title, release date, and artwork on 4 November 2021. Her website was also updated with information about the album's 2022 tour. The album was preceded by the four singles "Good Ones", "New Shapes" featuring Christine and the Queens and Caroline Polachek, "Beg for You" featuring Rina Sawayama, "Baby" and two promotional singles, "Every Rule" and "Used to Know Me".

Ornette Coleman was an American jazz saxophonist, violinist, trumpeter, and composer. He was one of the major innovators of the free jazz movement of the 1960s, which disregarded harmonic patterns a term he invented with the name of his 1961 album. He was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship in 1994. His album Sound Grammar received the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for music. This 2CD set features 26 tracks. This 2 cd set features many of his most popular songs and will make a fine addition to any jazz music fans collection.

With just a couple of cursory listens to the few tracks that popped up all over the Internet through 2007, comparisons were made between Adele, the much-hyped brassy British songstress, and Amy Winehouse, the…much-hyped brassy British songstress. However, after a solid listen to 19, the first full sampling by the up-and-coming Adele, listeners are forced to throw all comparisons to the wind; Adele is simply too magical to compare her to anyone. Bluesy like it's no one's business yet voluptuously funky in a contemporary way, Adele rocks out 19 with a unique voice and gritty sound that dazzle endlessly. Synthesizing blues, jazz, folk, soul, and even electric pop, Adele mystifies through her mature songwriting skills and jaw-dropping arrangements.

Gottfried Heinrich Stölzel was a highly esteemed composer mentioned in the same breath as Bach, Telemann, and Handel. Today his name has largely vanished from our concert programs, but not from the cpo catalogue. Stölzel did remarkable things in the field of sacred music, as demonstrated by previous releases on cpo, but the label now presents the composer’s chamber music.

'I’ve Always Kept A Unicorn is the best album that Sandy Denny never made. This 40-Track / 2CD set captures Sandy at her most intimate as she runs through stripped down arrangements of songs with Strawbs, Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, The Bunch and from her 4 solo albums. Exclusive to this set are 3 demos from the original recording sessions for the 1972 Bunch album, “Rock On” including a beautiful duet with Linda Thompson on Phil Everly’s “When Will I Be Loved” and Buddy Holly’s “Love Made A Fool Of You” and “Learning The Game”.

What really makes this chronologically arranged major recording project stand out is the fact that Il Rossignolo have also incorporated all the duplicate movements and different forms by which each sonata has survived to the present day; and because these are also programmed alongside each other, it’s possible to instantly compare the differences worked by a key or instrumental change…Harpsichordist Ottaviano Tenerani’s colourful and responsive partnering is unfailingly enjoyable throughout.

The Bulgarian violinist Kremena Nikolova and her ensemble Vivaldi Society enlarge the spectrum around the solo concertos by Vivaldi presenting a program with concertos for violin and viola d’amore by Vivaldi together with compositions by Sardelli, Martynov and Bersanetti, three contemporary composers that consider themselves as followers of the tradition of the Venetian master.

In 2023, under the artistic direction of Daniel Yvinec and the arrangements by pianist Laurent Courthaliac, Pierrick Pédron ventured into a memorable project alongside the renowned Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba. Building on the success of that collaboration, Yvinec and Courthaliac have now embarked on an even more ambitious and challenging project, inviting Pédron to reinterpret one of the most iconic albums of free jazz: Ornette Coleman’s The Shape of Jazz to Come, originally recorded in 1959.
Leading his established quartet—which includes bassist Thomas Bramerie, and two of France’s most promising young jazz talents, pianist Carl-Henri Morisset and drummer Elie Martin-Charrière—Pédron skillfully navigates the intricate demands of this historical piece. Guided by the insightful and scholarly framework set by his two “producers,” he deftly avoids the pitfalls of overly reverent or purely formalistic approaches, instead bringing an organic, poetic depth to the project.

Roberto Colombo is a keyboard player, artistic producer and arranger and has worked with bands such as Le Orme, PFM, Finisterre and many other prominent Italian musicians. He's often considered one of the underrated gems in Italy. His solo albums from the 70's have a lot of Frank Zappa influences. In 1976 his first solo album, "Sfogatevi Bestie," was released. 1977 saw the release of "Botte da Orbi." This work verges on progressive and jazz-rock, but is marked by light-hearted ironic tones. He gathers together an all-star band of more than thirty musicians, featuring essentially the cream of the Italian music scene: from Mauro Pagani (PFM) to Walter Calloni (PFM), Ronnie Jackson to Lucio Violin Fabbri (PFM), Stefano Cerri (considered one of the best bass player of those days) to Tullio De Piscopo (another legendary drummer who have been playing with New Trolls on Tempi Dispari), and Ivan Cattaneo (a songwriter who was backed on one album by PFM).
