Link played as a sideman on countless 50s / early 60s sessions, with / for his brothers and a host of friends - many of which are now long forgotten obscurities, of interest only because of his involvement. Disc 1 of this compilation presents Link's own releases between 1958-62, delivered in his fiercely unmistakeable style; Disc 2 presents a goodly selection of Link's session work from 1956-62, including his own first 45 (which, stylistically, couldn't be further removed from the hairy-chested 'Rumble'), alongside a couple of dozen or so 'guest appearances' and even a couple of 'solo' 45s, which actually came out credited to older brother Vern.

LP contains the original 5 tracks - CD/Digital include an additional 3 bonus tracks . Remastered by Grammy? winner Michael Graves, with vinyl cut by Jeff Powell Producer John Snyder had always wanted to record Pepper and booked him into a week at the Village Vanguard in New York. At the time, Pepper was under contract to Contemporary Records and label head, Les Koenig, decided he would record the gigs, quashing any notion Snyder had of doing the same. However, Art promised Snyder that he'd record an album for Snyder's label, Artists House, at some point down the road. Together they wound up making four. Here again on vinyl, CD & Digital are the original albums drawn from these sessions, lovingly recreated in their original form, remastered by Grammy? winner Michael Graves and recut by Jeff Powell.

Their partnership lasted barely four years and just over 50 songs - but between 1965 and 1969 Isaac Hayes and David Porter penned some of soul’s most enduring anthems of their era, many of which are still being regularly performed and recorded to this day. • Ace are delighted to welcome them into our ever-popular Songwriter Series this month with “Wrap It Up”, a fantastic collection featuring almost half of the total number of songs they wrote together in versions you would expect, and versions you wouldn’t. • Hayes and Porter wrote for almost every major act on the Stax roster, but the commercial appeal of their songs gave them appeal to artists operating outside the perimeters of soul music.

These two slightly later efforts are actually more consistently interesting than the duo's first two albums, mostly because they stop trying to sound like the Beatles or the Everly Brothers, and sound more distinctive and soulful - that's doubly true of the material off of the True Love Ways album. They rely more on their voices, which show more flexibility - P&G were never going to be blues singers, but they're far less embarrassing and more directly attuned to what they're singing here, which includes Otis Blackwell's "All Shook Up" and Leadbelly's "Good Morning Blues." The results are sometimes successful within the context of the duo's work; "Cry to Me" is a good cover and one of their better records of this era, even if the Rolling Stones did it better, and their cover of Smokey Robinson's "Who's Loving You" is astonishing. The sound is consistently good-to-excellent, though the notes are sketchy.

Essentials is a different album, where jazz appears at its most elegant, thanks to Karen´s amazing voice.

"The Creator Has a Master Plan" is as close as Spiritual Jazz comes to having its own anthem. Verve's Acoustic Sounds Series features transfers from analog tapes and remastered 180-gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.

Give Me the Reason is the fifth studio album by American R&B/soul singer-songwriter Luther Vandross, released on September 19, 1986. The album earned Vandross an American Music Award for Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist and a nomination for "Favorite Soul/R&B Album" in 1988, while the title track "Give Me the Reason" was nominated for "Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male" and "Best R&B Song" at the 29th Grammy Awards in 1987. The album also includes Vandross' first top-20 pop hit, "Stop to Love." It also marked a svelte, thinner Vandross due to a weight loss earlier in the year. The album went on to sell over 2 million copies in the United States and was certified double platinum. In addition to the title track and "Stop to Love," the album features three other hit singles: "There's Nothing Better than Love" (a duet with actor/dancer/singer Gregory Hines), "I Really Didn't Mean It," and "So Amazing."

Killing Machine (known as Hell Bent for Leather in the U.S.) is the fifth studio album by British heavy metal band Judas Priest, released in November 1978. With Killing Machine, Judas Priest began moving to a more accessible, commercial format that abandoned the complex, fantasy-themed songs of their previous three albums. While this album still had dark undertones, it was more grounded in realism. This was reflected in their change of stage costumes from flowing Gothic robes to leather, but also may have been inspired by the rising punk and New Wave movements. The album is certified gold. In 2005, Killing Machine was ranked number 321 in Rock Hard magazine's book of The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time.

Italian progressive metal unit DGM released their eleventh studio album, "Life," on November 17th, 2023, via Frontiers Records. The follow-up to the band’s 2020 excellent outing, "Tragic Separation," delivers pretty much everything expected from a DGM record and raises the question: why is this band so underrated? With “Life” the band around Simone Mularoni proves once again that they belong on the same list as Dream Theater or Symphony X.
All the trademark elements of DGM’s sound can be found in this new album with sweeping choruses, technical passages, lightning-fast fretwork, big vocals and bombastic transitions, but the care and the dedication to the songwriting emerges in phenomenal songs which carefully encompass everything that goes from the heaviest progressive metal to a more classic hard rock sound…

As Kiss approach 40 years of ridiculously dumb rock & roll fun, it makes sense that their 20th studio album, Monster, is more self-referential than anything. Following 2009's Sonic Boom, the album marks the second set of tunes by a revamped "original" Kiss lineup, with Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons joined by new guitarist Tommy Thayer and re-emerging drummer Eric Singer donning the makeup and personas originated by Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, respectively. Dressing up these semi-random players in the classic comic book costumes is just step one in re-creating the feel of Kiss' 1970s over the top heyday.

Thirteen examples of pleasant, mid-tempo, mildly amplified psychedelic pop, most of them owing some considerable debt to the influence of the Beatles' Rubber Soul and Revolver (though not their production), with some of the nutsy brand of humor that Giles, Giles, & Fripp later traded in. This is basically Paul McCartney-influenced psychedelia, not only in the tone and texture of the lead vocals, but the retro style of songs like "I'm So Happy," with some vaguely progressive touches that make one think of the more ornate tracks off of Bee Gees' 1st. "Montgolfier" is a folky/trippy, deliberately antiquated cut that intersects somewhere midway between the early psychedelic Bee Gees and the early work of Amazing Blondel.

Pendragon's release of "The Masquerade Overture" represents one of the 90's strongest prog releases yet! This brilliant recording sets new heights for neo-prog acts in terms of complete recordings. "The Masquerade Overture" really does capture the essence of concept-like story line and takes the listener into a completely new world. The mix of opera, orchestra and the symphonic tendency of Pendragon seems to work to perfection on this release. There are some nice and tasty guitar / bass parts scattered throughout all of the songs. Nick Barrett adds some great vocals throughout which give it that unmistakeable Pendragon feel.
