This disc of works by Brahms was recorded during the height of covid restrictions whereby social distancing in studios was a requirement for British orchestras, representing huge challenges for both performers and recording engineers alike. The recording is a tribute to the indefatigable efforts of our conductor, musicians, producer Michael Ponder and sound engineer Adaq Khan and the supportive staff at Henry Wood Hall, all who managed to keep the candle burning for music and musicians when almost all artistic activity fell silent.

When looking at the trusting musical encounter between flute and harp, it appears that a large number of scores have been unjustly neglected. This long list of works that have been hidden in the shadows underscores the perfect match between the two instruments and lends further legitimacy to their amicable bond. The ensemble Les Connivences Sonores was born in 2014 from the meeting between two musicians with inexhaustible curiosity, Odile Renault, flute and Elodie Reibaud, harp.

With these concerts, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig embarks on a musical journey to the Czech Republic in memory of its former conductor Vclav Neumann.It was there that Jan Vclav Vorek was born in 1791, the year of Mozart's death, and was taken away from it by pulmonary tuberculosis at the same age as Mozart, only 34 years old.

Of the six works recorded here by J.S. Bach, C.P.E. Bach and G.F. Telemann (father, son and godfather), only two of them were specifically composed for the oboe, namely the g-minor sonata by C.P.E. Bach and the a-minor sonata by Telemann. However, as Emma Black proves on this new release, each of these works translates beautifully to the oboe. Australian born Emma Black is the principal oboist with the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble (Thomas Hengelbrock) and principal and soloist with the Wiener Akademie (Vienna) and Le Concert de la Loge (Paris). With all of these orchestras she has performed in all the major European festivals and can be heard in numerous album and radio recordings.

The present release is a showcase of chamber music for oboe, bassoon, and piano by Jean Francaix, Daniel Schnyder, Francis Poulenc, and Heitor Villa-Lobos. Christoph Hartmann began his career as an orchestral musician in 1991 with the Stuttgart Philharmonic, and the following year moved to Berlin.

Sachiko Furuhata-Kersting was born in Yokohama, Japan, and completed her piano studies at the Tokyo Conservatory.Further studies took her to Germany at the Detmold University of Music and the Robert Schumann University inDsseldorf. Her teachers include Roberto Szidon, Detlev Kraus, Naoyuki Taneda and Willem Brons. Her concertactivities have taken her to Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and Japan.With this third recital album, Sachiko Furuhata-Kersting takes up selected works by Frdric Chopin. With the famousetudes, the nocturnes and waltzes, different moods are singled out and compare so that an independent Chopin portraitis drawn.
