Farewell Tour is the first live album by American rock band The Doobie Brothers. It documents the group's 1982 Farewell Tour and is a double LP set. By the early 1980s, the Doobie Brothers had evolved from the guitar-boogie sound under original band frontman Tom Johnston to a soulful keyboard-driven AOR sound under Michael McDonald. Despite the many personnel changes in the group, Patrick Simmons remained from the original incarnation of the group. The front cover shows Keith Knudsen cutting the strings on John McFee's guitar as a symbolic gesture. The last two songs on the album were recorded at the final concert of the tour in Berkeley, California, on September 11, 1982 with vocals by original lead vocalist and guitarist Tom Johnston. Jonian Ilias Kadesha has worked with leading artists and orchestras such as Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Nicolas Altstaedt, Steven Isserlis and Patricia Kopatchinskaja to name but a few. For his debut album on Linn, he has recorded a high-flying recital of solo violin pieces spanning five centuries. One of the oldest pieces of music written for solo violin, Biber’s angelic and absolutely mesmerizing Passacaglia stands alongside Bach’s enduringly famous Second Partita, whose last movement is the starting point for the Ciaccona for Violin Solo by Swiss composer Helena Winkelman, which receives its first commercial recording here. Twentieth- and twenty-first-century works by Schnittke, Kurtág and Lera Auerbach, all heavily inspired by Bach’s music, complete the programme which augurs a fruitful partnership with a promising young talent.

The Spanish ensemble Accademia del Piacere, founded in 2002 by gambist Fahmi Alqhai, is known for its excellent interpretations of rare pieces of Spanish Renaissance and Baroque music.
