Father of the Bride is the highly anticipated new album from Vampire Weekend, and is the band's fourth full length release. It is the follow up to 2013's Modern Vampires of the City, which won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album in 2014. Father of the Bride is produced by founding band member Ezra Koenig, and Ariel Rechtshaid (Adele, Madonna, Charli XCX, Usher, HAIM, Solange, and others). The album features 18 songs, including "Harmony Hall," "Big Blue," "2021," and "Sunflower."

Tracing the overlooked movement of sounds from Africa and the Arabic world and their influence on European and American music, 'There Is No Other' illuminates the universality of music and the commonality of the human experience. It primarily features only Giddens and Turrisi playing one or two instruments together. The album comprises a mix of original songs penned by Giddens and a diverse set of interpretations ranging from Ola Belle Reed's 'I'm Gonna Write Me a Letter', and Oscar Brown, Jr's 'Brown Baby', the Italian traditional 'Pizzica di San Vito' to the aria 'Black Swan' by Gian-Carlo Menotti.

Rachmaninoff's output of chamber music is small but all the more precious for that. Ten albums and fifteen years into her remarkable career, this may well be her most personal work.

If 2018 was the year Chicago-born, Brooklyn-based vibraphonist Joel Ross kept turning up on acclaimed album after acclaimed album (Makaya McCraven Universal Beings, Walter Smith III & Matthew Stevens In Common, James Francies Flight, Marquis Hill Modern Flows, Vol. 2), then 2019 is his year to be the star as he joins the Blue Note Records roster and releases his debut album. With the May 3 arrival of KingMaker, he adds his name to an illustrious jazz vibraphone legacy on the legendary label that extends from Milt Jackson to Bobby Hutcherson to Stefon Harris and now Ross.

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Caroline Spence will release Mint Condition, her third full-length release and her debut for Rounder Records, on May 3, 2019.

‘Summer Of Sorcery’, the follow up to the critically acclaimed ‘Soulfire’ is SVZ’s first album of original material in 20 years. It was written during the second half of the ‘Soulfire’ Tour and recorded at Stevie’s Renegade Studio September-November 2018. All 12 songs are original SVZ compositions, 1 recut from his Revolution Album, 1 outtake from the Lilyhammer Score, and 10 new songs. The album was recorded with the same members of The Disciples Of Soul that have been touring this past year. The album is a breakthrough artistically for Stevie in several ways, “My first five albums in the 80s were both very personal, and very political. I wanted the new material to be more fictionalized.

Live at Van Gelder’s was recorded not in a club but in the New Jersey studio of the late engineer Rudy Van Gelder, with a small invited audience. It’s not a common occurrence, but New Yorker Ben Paterson seized the opportunity to make swinging, bluesy organ-trio jazz in that hallowed space, where organ-trio history was made many times from the ’50s onward. Buoyed by the warm phrasing of guitarist Ed Cherry and the laidback groove of drummer Jason Tiemann, Paterson brings a commanding touch to canonical material including Ray Brown’s “F.S.R. (For Sonny Rollins),” the gorgeous Wayne Shorter waltz “Edda,” and the midtempo Grant Green cooker “Green Jeans,” among other treasures by Horace Silver, Slide Hampton, and the giants of the idiom.

Just a Bit Further, Trinom3's second release, brings together the various music styles that have inspired the band throughout their formative years. Masters of progressive rock, jazz, r&b/pop and film scores, Mike Clinco, John Van Tongeren and Kendall Kay are most certainly the musically eclectic gentlemen.

To play bebop, one needs to deal with two competing impulses: master the instrument – amass the fluency required to float at heightened tempi, navigate harmonic complexities and execute ornamented lines that are part of this music’s tradition – and utilize a relaxed phraseology that is anything but frenetic and that comes across as “not trying too hard.” No doubt, to play with the sort of authenticity that stellar musicians Tardo Hammer, Lee Hudson and Steve Williams bring to Hammer’s Swinging On A Star is difficult. But to listeners, the effort is hidden, the inventive spirit of musical collaboration and taste displayed.

The combination of clarinet, viola and piano has not been used much by composers throughout the ages, and the most representative works are on this recording. Featured on this fourth release of Oslo Philharmonic Chamber Group are solo clarinettist Leif Arne Pedersen, violist Henninge Landaas and pianist Gonzalo Moreno.

On paper, North Carolina's Lost in the Trees' second full-length outing sounds about as enjoyable as last-chance day at the pound, but this 12-track song cycle, which chronicles the life and death of bandleader Ari Picker's artist mother, who committed suicide in 2009, is as moving and life affirming as it is moribund and gut wrenching. Much of that can be attributed to Picker's incredibly complex, endlessly fascinating composition style, which draws heavily from his classical training, yet maintains a smart, accessible core that brings to mind Sufjan Stevens at his least quirky – tubas, strings, flutes, harps, bells, and trumpets rarely sound this muscular.
