Dido & Aeneazz is a recomposition of Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas by Raaf Hekkema, combined with newly- composed music by Eric Vloeimans. The album showcases the congenial collaboration between the versatile reed players of Calefax and renowned trumpet player Eric Vloeimans. Dido & Aeneazz invites the listener to join a musical journey that virtuously flows from the baroque original to jazz, calypso and klezmer, and back.

From the very first notes they played together, Secret Keeper, the innovative duo of "NYC's least-predictable improviser" (City Arts) Mary Halvorson and Grammy-nominated Stephan Crump had a magical connection. Their debut album, Super Eight, arrived in March of 2013. Now with Emerge, their second release, the duo reveals a new level of chemistry.

On this second CD with his band Obbligato Tom Rainey surprises with standards and beautiful love songs like «Stella by Starlight», „What Is This Thing Called Love“ or „I Fall in Love too Easily“.

Among other things, Visiting Texture illustrates the principle of addition by subtraction. It’s the first studio album by Trio 3 as an actual trio – with Oliver Lake on alto saxophone, Reggie Workman on bass and Andrew Cyrille on drums – in more than a decade, since the excellent Time Being in 2006 (Intakt CD 106). The intervening years have seen the group work powerfully with some serious guest pianists: notably Geri Allen, Irène Schweizer, Vijay Iyer and Jason Moran. But there’s a specific character to the group’s trilateral rapport, which finds full expression here.

The music of Trio Heinz Herbert is first and foremost a tonal experience. Broad arcs and ingenious geometric grooves give it its form. Spaces are created, pivotal points set, textures woven. Within these free markings the tonal chemistry begins to unfold its potential. For his latest album, available April 5, 2019 from the Steinway & Sons label (STNS 30098), pianist Konstantin Scherbakov pairs Franz Liszt’s Transcendental Études — an ambitious, difficult group of pieces composed with the goal of moving around the circle of fifths twice — with twelve études by Sergei Lyapunov that both complement and complete the rotations that Liszt started. Both sets of études move through the same keys within the circle of fifths, with Lyapunov’s first études picking up where Liszt’s last piece ended.

To celebrate Perlman’s landmark birthday, in September 2015 Warner Classics is releasing Itzhak Perlman — The Complete Warner Recordings, a fifty-nine-album set which contains all the recordings he made for EMI Classics (his principal label) and also for Teldec — including some previously unreleased recordings. The Deluxe Edition covers every aspect of Perlman’s art, containing concertos — both the “essential” concertos and a number of more rarely-heard works, including Perlman’s own commissions from living composers — other pieces for violin and orchestra, chamber music, recital and crossover repertoire (including jazz, ragtime and klezmer), and even a disc that focuses on Perlman as narrator and (briefly) opera singer.

Netflix is after a slice of the BBC wildlife behemoth Planet Earth's success and they've only gone and nabbed David Attenborough and the Planet Earth team to create their own Our Planet. Steven Price provides the score as he has done on Gravity and Attack The Block. He teams up with Ellie Golding for the album's closing track.

Picking up where the enrapturing "River of January" left off, Dave Zinno Unisphere’s follow-up, "Stories Told," further explores the wild and beautiful jungle of jazz, more specifically, the Brazilian/Latin tributary: electric, funky, passionate, and rhythmic. Zinno here is partnered with Unisphere co-founder Mike Tucker, Eric "Benny" Bloom, Tim Ray and drummer/percussionist Rafael Barata. The ensemble is supreme and ambitious, benefiting from having a recording under their collective belt and refinement of the Unisphere mission. The performance is a passionate ode to the band’s multicultural vision.

Pianist/composer/arranger/bandleader David Berkman is a well-known recording artist on the New York scene as a leader, a sideman for many big names (Sonny Stitt, Tom Farrell, Cecil McBee) and as a teacher at Universities and Jazz Camps in the U.S, South America, Asia and Europe. Here, he performs 10 tracks with his regular sextet (plus guests) in a programme of original music having a wide spectrum of influences. The band has worked together for many years and Berkman, like Duke Ellington before, likes to write for his ensemble with individual players in mind.

Pi Recordingsis pleased to welcome saxophonist/ flutist/ composer Anna Webber(b. 1984) as the latest addition to the label’sfamily. A 2018 Guggenheim Fellow, she has been an active performer and bandleader on the New York scene for the last decade, appearing with Matt Mitchell(A Pouting Grimace), Dan Weiss(Sixteen: Drummers Suite), and Jen Shyu(Song of Silver Geese), all on Pi, in addition to other significant releases including All Can Workfrom drummer John Hollenbeck’s Large Ensemble (a 2018 Grammy nominee) and Engage, upcoming from trumpeter Dave Douglas.
