The Kinks are recognised as one of the most important and influential British groups of all time, with millions of record sales and countless awards and accolades to their name. From their explosive beginnings as part of the British Beat movement to forays into concept albums, stadium rock and acoustic balladeering, The Kinks have left an unimpeachable legacy of classic songs, many of which form the building blocks of popular music as we know it today.

Miles Dewey Davis III (* May 26, 1926 in Alton, Illinois; † September 28, 1991 in Santa Monica, California) was an American jazz trumpeter, flugelhorn player, composer and bandleader and one of the most influential jazz musicians of the 20th century. After participating in the so-called Bebop revolution, Davis significantly influenced the development of different jazz styles such as cool jazz, hard bop, modal jazz and jazz rock. Both as an instrumentalist and as a creative spirit, Miles Davis managed to realize his own artistic ideas and at the same time be commercially successful.

Marie-Martin Marcel de Marin (1796–1850) was a French composer who led both personal and professional lives that are worth reviewing today. He was a mathematician, an expat, the Captain of Versailles' Dragoons, a violinist and above all a composer. His harp compositions are very different from the repertoire of his contemporaries. His music features quite a peculiar mix of stylistic elements of various origins, including the heritage of the great Baroque composers and the early 18th-century style of French keyboard music.

Strut present the definitive edition of Sun Ra’s classic ‘Lanquidity’ album from 1978 with brand new 4LP box set and 2CD editions, featuring the widely distributed version of the album alongside alternative mixes by Bob Blank originally released in limited quantities for a 1978 Arkestra gig at Georgia Tech. Both versions of the album are cut loud at 45 rpm over 2LPs each.

Donald Byrd’s 1975 fusion classic Places and Spaces was the culmination of the legendary trumpeter’s vibrant latter Blue Note years. Byrd had begun recording for Blue Note in 1958, and over two decades evolved from a top-notch hard bop trumpeter into a pioneer of R&B/Funk fusion, leading the label’s own creative direction along a similar path.
