On the occasion of the bicentenary of Charles Gounod’s birth, this first complete string quartet (including two unpublished ones) on period instruments reveals an unknown part of his production, dominated by vocal music. Composer of the very end of the 19th century, Gounod and his five quartets are the worthy heir of the Viennese classicism tradition. The lyrical accents of the Quartet in G minor or the airy lightness of the Scherzo of the Petit Quatuor evoke nothing less than the names of Schubert and Mendelssohn. The musicians of the Quatuor Cambini-Paris (Julien Chauvin, Karine Crocquenoy, Pierre-Éric Nimylowycz and Atsushi Sakaï) gracefully reproduce these pages, full of gravity and sweetness.

„John Denver wasn't merely hot during the mid-'70s; he was omnipresent on radio, TV, and on-stage for anyone who'd have him. Certainly, few artists enjoyed more than one greatest-hits collection – even if critics derided him as a granola-munching, tree-hugging folky who perennially smiled through life's hardships. But the reality of Denver's music is more complicated; behind the lush orchestration and gentle fingerpicking lies a more somber, contemplative side. In this respect, "Fly Away"'s lament about city pressures could be considered his answer to the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby." "Like a Sad Song" and "I'm Sorry" apologize to forsaken lovers.

Prompted by a commission from a London publisher, Haydn took up the composition of piano trios, that is, sonatas for keyboard accompanied by violin and cello, on a grand scale in 1784.

Baritone Henk Neven and pianist Hans Eijsackers are joined by Neven's cellist brother Jan Bastiaan for a unique survey of Russian song. Ranging from Glinka in the early 19th century to Rachmaninov in the 20th century (via Borodin, Dargomyzhsky and Tchaikovsky), the program also features a selection from Prokofiev's Chout in arrangements for cello & piano. A wonderfully intimate sound world is conjured by the musicians in this recital of well known and less well known songs - with love from Russia.

2018 release from the veteran British duo. A Little Bit of Us is Chas & Dave's first album in over 30 years to feature brand-new Chas & Dave songs. Says Chas Hodges: "The bloke who owns the studio where we recorded much of this album is Brian Juniper. He introduced me to Dave back in 1963 - Dave was at Junior School with him. I was at Senior School with him when, as 13 year olds, we started a skiffle group over 60 years ago." The album features a mix of new Chas & Dave originals and live favorites.
