A Study Of Losses is the seventh studio album from Beirut, the musical project of Zach Condon. The project originated in spring 2023, when Viktoria Dalborg, director at the Swedish circus Kompani Giraff, reached out to Condon, asking if he would be interested to provide the music for their next project, a show based on an adaptation of a novel by German author Judith Schalansky. The main themes in Schalansky's book and in the adaptation for the circus show deal with the concept of loss and the impermanence of everything known to us: from extinct animal species, lost architectural and literary treasures to more abstract concepts of loss through the process of aging. In close collaboration, A Study Of Losses, turned into a rather unexpected piece of music-at 18 songs and nearly an hour long, it is by far the largest album Beirut has ever done, and amongst some of their most beautiful work to date.

This collection collates some of Lester Young's earlier sessions, but equally some of the finest music he ever recordedLester Willis Young, born August 27, 1909, known professionally as Lester Young,remains among the most influential saxophone players of all time; indeed Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Zoot Sims, Al Cohn, Gerry Mulligan, Paul Quinichette, Sonny Stitt, Dexter Gordon and Warne Marsh were all informed by and drew heavily on Young's sound.This collection, featuring almost five hours of music across four discs, collates some of the earlier sessions but equally some of the finest music Lester Young ever recorded. Although marred by health issues, Lester Young's playing as the bebop genre developed remained as spectacular as ever it was, and this is well documented throughout this new collection.

Italian-born violinist and singer Ludovica Burtone has performed with Sigur Rós and Jon Batiste, and was also part of an orchestra tribute to the Notorious B.I.G. at Lincoln Center. On Migration Tales, she leads a diverse N.Y.C.-based sextet in a tribute to the city's immigrant women. The success of the energetic and mostly melodic album hinges on Burtone's considerable ability to write music that's fresh, emotionally engaging, and clearly inspiring to the ensemble. "The Name" builds on Burtone's singing and violin playing. Tenor saxophonist Julieta Eugenio, a native of Argentina, enters with a warm tone and natural sense of melody, while South Korean Jongkuk Kim joins in with tasteful and supportive drumming. Burton eventually draws out a single note, closing out a masterful performance.

Star pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard presents an anthology from György Kurtág’s Játékok (Games), recorded in the composer’s presence and under his artistic guidance. In his extensive series of Játékok, Kurtág realizes the spontaneity of a child exploring the piano with the compositional means of his adventurous, avant-garde idiom. Recording such an extensive collection of Játékok is an important statement for Aimard, who has developed an intimate artistic friendship with the composer over decades.

King Crimson performed Heroes at the Admiralspalast in Berlin as a celebration, a remembrancing and an homage. The concert was thirty-nine years and one month after the original sessions at the Hansa Tonstudio overlooking the Berlin Wall. This is released in the Fortieth Anniversary year.
The title track sees Robert Fripp reprise the unforgettable guitar role he created for the original David Bowie studio recording in the same city in 1977, particularly poignant in the year of Bowie's death.
Also featured on the EP are a ten minutes recording of Easy Money (Paris), a song that varies in length and solos from night to night and is always a fan favourite, an edited version (featuring the “song section”) of Crim Classic Starless often a set closer, always a stand-out moment and a recording of the three drummers’ showpiece The Hell Hounds of Krim…

Born Virginia Patterson Hensley on September 8, 1932, Patsy Cline, the American singer, songwriter, pianist and composer, came from the state of Virginia. She is considered one of the most influential vocalists of the 20th century and was one of the first country music artists to cross over into pop. Cline had several major hits during her eight-year recording career, including two number-ones on the Billboard Hot Country and Western Sides chart. Patsy released just three studio albums during her life: I957's Patsy Cline, 1961's Showcase and 1962's Sentimentally Yours. In addition, her label Decca released a further three previously unreleased LPs posthumously. This new three CD collection contains all these albums in their entirety. She also released many singles which didn't appear on any of her albums. These are also contained herein, which provides for one of the most complete Patsy Cline collections available. Since her death, Cline has been cited as one of the most celebrated, respected, and influential performers of the 20th century. Her music has influenced performers of various styles and genres. She has also been seen as a forerunner for women in country music, being among the first to sell records and headline concerts. In 1973, she became the first female performer to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Remixed and remastered classic Ayreon album, originally released in 2004, with bonus tracks from the Ayreon archives. The Human Equation was the sixth album from the progressive rock project Ayreon by Dutch musician Arjen Anthony Lucassen. As with other Ayreon albums, it features guest appearances from several musicians previously unrelated to the project, including James LaBrie of Dream Theater, Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth, Eric Clayton of Saviour Machine, and Devin Townsend, performing music arranged and written by Lucassen.

After the uncharacteristic misstep that was The Epidemics, Shankar returned to his roots with nobody told me and showed us that his flair for Carnatic vocals is almost as deeply fleshed as his improvisational gifts on the double violin. And while he has never quite recaptured the magic of Who’s To Know, that same generative spirit is present here in every gesture of his bow. The recording is far more intimate than anything else he has put out. For that reason alone it bears repeated listening and the nuances that repetition brings to each new experience. He is also accompanied by some staggering talents, among them V. Lakshminarayana (father of the venerable L. Subramaniam and pioneer of the Indian violin, he died the year following this session), Zakir Hussain on tabla (who, if you’re reading this, probably needs no introduction), and ghatam master Vikku Vinayakram…

Hurriedly put together in the wake of the success of the title song, and containing the follow-up hit "We've Only Just Begun," Close to You is a surprisingly strong album, and not just for those hits. Richard Carpenter's originals "Maybe It's You" and "Crescent Noon" are superb showcases for Karen Carpenter's developing talent, the latter a superbly atmospheric, hauntingly beautiful art song of the kind that Judy Collins was doing well at the time, and gorgeously arranged. There's also a Swingle Singers-style number, "Mr. Guder," showing off their paired vocal talents and more of Richard's arranging talents. Karen's singing on "Reason to Believe" isn't so much somber as it is passionate, as she emphasizes the melancholy component in the song more than most versions. Their version of "Help" lacks the inventiveness of "Ticket to Ride," although it has some pleasing vocal flourishes…

The film "Sinners" is a new horror project by director Ryan Coogler, in which he once again collaborates with composer Ludwig Göransson, known for their previous work together on Black Panther. The story is set in 1930s Mississippi and blends elements of Southern Gothic, vampire mythology, and blues.Ludwig Göransson created an atmospheric, blues-inspired soundtrack to emphasize the film’s dark and mystical tone. He used traditional instruments such as guitars and harmonicas, along with modern electronic elements, to craft a unique sound. Additionally, the film features tracks by well-known artists, including James Blake, Don Toliver, Brittany Howard, and Raphael Saadiq.

Lise Davidsen has recorded Wagner's 'Der fliegende Holländer' in a live performance at her home opera house, Oslo. Her first full length opera recording on Decca Classics. These live performances were the only time she will ever perform the role of Senta, and this album forms an important part of her future legacy. Gerald Finley stars as the dutchman, a role in which he has won international acclaim for his superb acting and lieder-like vocal finesse. The concert marked the inauguration of Edward Gardner as the new music director at Oslo Opera House.

Tony Holiday has been at the center of a Memphis soul blues revival anchored by a contingent of young, savvy, well-schooled musicians who have a "family-like" attitude and a strong belief in one another. Over the past couple of years, Holiday and his talented young band have been touring hard, taking spells in between to write and record with Producer Eric Corne in Memphis and Los Angeles. The result is Keep Your Head Up, an album that covers a tremendous amount of territory over eight pithy tracks. It features a nice array of special guests including Eddie 9V, Kevin Burt, Albert Castiglia and Laura Chavez, last year's Blues Music Award winner for 'Guitarist of the Year'. Throughout the record Holiday demonstrates an impressive command of styles, moving fluidly through Texas, Chicago and hill country Blues with plenty of Memphis soul and even a touch of Afrobeat.

Ancient and modern come together on "I Am Here," as veteran musician/composer Paul Ellis creates an electronic music portrait inspired by the mysterious rock carvings of the Chinook Tribe of Native Americans who lived in the Columbia River Gorge 15,000 years ago. Just as they left their mark etched in stone, so Paul Ellis paints in sound from a palette that includes synthesizers, sequencers, guitar, bass, and voice.
The three long form compositions on the album, two in the 20 minute range, and one almost 30 minutes in length, have a spellbinding quality that is constantly evolving, and draws favorable comparison to the electronic music artistry of Tangerine Dream, Ash Ra, Craig Padilla, Patrick O’Hearn, and Jean Michel Jarre…
