Includes Limitied Edition Trading Card #62. Originally Released in 1979. Legends of Rock Edition. 2022 Girder Records, GR1092. Washes Whiter Than was Petra's 3rd album and introduced us to Greg X. Volz. It also introduced us to Rob Frazier and if you've been following our Legends of Rock series, you'll know that we released remastered CDs of both of Rob's first two solo albums. Both Rob and Greg handled lead vocals for the album and even sang on both "I'm Thankful," as well as "Yahweh Love." The band was intentional about creating a soft radio friendly album as their two previous albums were too hard/heavy for Christian radio in the 70s which was mellow. Thankfully, songs like "Morning Star" and "Magic Words" still rock, and musically it is a masterpiece and holds it's rightful place among other albums.

    The Appalachian Mountains stretch from New England to Georgia, encompassing 18 states during their southward sprawl. The music of the area began with folk tunes imported by Scots-Irish and British settlers, pockets of whom were landlocked for decades. Visiting missionaries and schoolteachers were sometimes surprised to find small groups of their descendants still speaking antique English and singing songs that had long since been outmoded back in Great Britain. Outgrowths of this tradition became known as old timey music and was primarily played on instruments like the dulcimer, fiddle, and harmonica. However, with the coming of the railroad and the proliferation of the radio and other forms of mass-market communication, these populations not only began to learn from each other but to pick up outside influences from banjo-picking freed slaves, black and white church services, and Grand Ol' Opry broadcasts.

    Reckless Faith is Christian Rock group originally from Calgary, Alberta in Canada. "Lonely Season" begins with some questionable ambguity, but comes in with a good beat and riff after about 30 seconds. "Curse the Sun" is a nice acoustic Ballad if you are into that. "Love Drug" and "Compassion" are good rock tunes and "Hands of Cain" is a unique ballad, as well / Lyrically, their songs are good across the board. The only one that doesn't seem to have much of a message is "100 Flowers." However, it should not be written off, I think that's the most catchy tune on the CD.

    This CD invokes the presence of the divine mother. I listend to this CD while at a week long silent meditation retreat. It filled me with a gentle joy, peace and immense loving kindness. It is very calming, gentle and nurturing. It features the following songs: Ganesh Invocation, Devi Prayer and Lalitha Ashtotram, which is a Sanskrit mantra of the 108 sacred names of the mother divine. ~ Brad VanAuken

    White Heart, also listed as Whiteheart, was an American contemporary Christian music pop-rock band which formed in 1982. White Heart's discography includes thirteen albums, the most recent of which was released in 1997. Original members Billy Smiley and Mark Gersmehl worked with a continually-changing cast of band-mates. In 1985, former roadie Rick Florian became the lead singer. "Emergency Broadcast" is the 5th album by White Heart and the band's first with bass guitarist Tommy Sims.
