Lortzing’s Der Waffenschmied is a lighthearted and superbly crafted opera that bridges Mozart’s Singspiele and early Wagner. Despite its relative popularity, there are surprisingly few complete recordings of it around.

A native of Italy, Paola Baron received her Master’s Degree with highest honors from the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Sarah O’Brien. She has also studied at the Conservatoire National Supérior de Musique in Lyon with Fabrice Pierre.

The Night Logan Woke Up (French: La nuit où Laurier Gaudreault s'est réveillé) is a Canadian thriller drama limited television series, directed by Xavier Dolan and released in 2022. Adapted from the theatrical play La nuit où Laurier Gaudreault s'est réveillé by Michel Marc Bouchard, the series centres on the Larouches, a family in Val-des-Chutes, Quebec, who are coping with the death of family matriarch Madeleine (Anne Dorval).

Cosmic Dealer was formed in 1968, and were one of the most gifted bands, among the rich psychedelic scene in the Netherlands. Their only album, Crystallization, is considered to be an underground classic with copies changing hands among collectors for huge sums. Containing powerful heavy rock along with softer acoustic sections and some sublime three-part harmonies, the album is reminiscent of the Pretty Things Parachute. Highlights include the magnificent Child Of The Golden Sun, the West Coast-flavored If There Is Nothing Behind The Hills and the mesmeric title track, which demonstrates that psychedelic rock was still very much alive and well in the Netherlands in 1971.

When Pablo Casals rediscovered the cello suites of Bach at the beginning of the 20th century, the novel thing about it was that he played them "senza basso", i.e. without piano accompaniment. In a time of music-historical over-maturity and experimentation, renowned composers soon came up with their own attempts, among them most famously Max Reger's "Solo Suites" and Kodály's "Solo Sonata", both written in 1915.
