For four decades, bass-baritone Klaus Mertens has been acclaimed by critics in concerts and nearly 200 album recordings as "unearthly radiant" (klassik com), "wonderfully slender, clearly delineating" (mdr Figaro) and "unchanged fresh and immensely homogeneous" (klassik com) for his interpretations of music ranging from early to avant-garde.

Under the aegis of the Great Lisbon Earthquake, we are brought a brief cycle of songs: Tremor. Nuno Côrte-Real takes a historic event with intellectual, philosophical and social repercussions at the world level, and proposes a journey through time. Leaving from contemporary Lisbon and travelling through the imaginary of the 1755 earthquake, the map that guides us is the poetry of Pedro Mexia.

The three members of the Rembrandt Trio, after fifteen years of touring the world together, found themselves grounded in The Netherlands when the world came to a standstill in 2020. Known for their curiosity-driven approach to music, incorporating many different musical cultures into their work and collaborating with grandmasters from different countries and continents (most notably with Persian grandmasters Hossein Alizadeh and Kayhan Kalhor) – the trio was now forced to stay put, stop performing, travelling, and collaborating.

If you’re going to cover anyone you may as well aim high, and that is what Blue Raincoat (or Blå Regnrock to give them their original Swedish name before they decided to appeal to an international audience) have done with this album which reprises work by Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen and Neil Young. You can’t aspire much higher than that.

This is a fantastic single by Marillion. After listening to this single I am extremely exited for the release of the full album. Every musician shines here. I especially love the keyboards by Mark Kelly and vocals by Steve Hogarth.

John Taylor has several strings to his bow: he can play with a certain nonchalance or feverishly throw his notes in a hurry. The introspective pianist of "Insight" or "Rosslyn" - to quote recent records - is more talkative than usual. Vaguely Asian, a composition by Steve Swallow previously recorded by Taylor as a solo, loses some of its abstraction.
