Both accomplished soloists with impressive international careers, violinist Judith Ingolfsson and pianist Vladimir Stoupel began their successful collaboration in 2006. The duo devotes themselves to the discovery and performance of uncommon repertoire. The music of French composer Gabriel Faure (1845-1924) is marked by lyrical lines and flowing harmonies. His elegant music is transparent and virtuosic. These two pieces were written more than four decades apart, and show turning points in the composers artistic life. The first sonata was the composers breakthrough hit. The success of this work unleashed an interest in his pieces across France. The second sonata is the first piece from the composers final period, when he wrote primarily chamber music.

The idea of an album featuring works written specially to the Lutoslawski Quartet is strictly connected with the celebrations of the European Capital of Culture Wroclaw 2016. The release includes a CD album and a DVD.

Amongst a plethora of musical styles and genres extant during the mid-18th century, the music of Giuseppe Tartini (1692-1770) finds a special place. Despite a quintessential expressive style of performance and embellishment, he was to become and remain influential across the known musical world, and his legacy was essential to violin playing for at least the next century. Tartini’s obscure writings about Nature and music reveal a close relationship to widespread ideas of a time that was to become known as The Age of Reason. However, these came with a twist: his 135 violin concertos and 200 sonatas, of which many are rarely performed today, still appear enigmatic – impalpable and mysterious.

Hailed as one of the brightest lyric-sopranos of the younger generation, a radiant pe rformer and a born actress Louise has been held in high critical acclaim during he r early career, and has recently been declared Young Singer of the Year at the 2017 International Opera Awards. She is also no stranger to Lieder, and has worked wi th pianist Joseph Middleton previously at the Leeds Lieder Festival. Joseph is considered a specialist in the art of song accompaniment, and has be en described as one of the brightest stars in the world of song and Lieder by BBC Music Magazine, the cream of the new generation by The Times and a perfect accompanist by Opera Now.

Artists have drawn inspiration from the mysterious aura of the night since time immemorial. And, in this new album from Aniello Desiderio, one of the world’s most talented guitarists, all the pieces chosen also pay homage to the nocturnal realm and its unique magic.
