Ut Gret is a progressive group from Louisville, KY who incorporate elements of rock, jazz, classical, zeuhl, world musics and minimalism to build their musical landscape.

When Jackie Royce joined Ut Gret in May of 2010, the first thing they did was schedule a recording session. Mark Englert (the Tom Bombadil of Louisville music) offered his house, chock full of his musical instruments (many of his own design), for the purpose. There were two long sessions of over an hour each. These were edited down to the length of a single CD by long-time Ut Gret friend and collaborator Denny Whalen. There were no other edits or overdubs. Everything you hear was the result of a spontaneous and magical musical evening unlike anything Ut Gret had done before! Now we have remastered these recordings and added a second disc of music taken from sources ranging from 2009 in our rehearsal space to a portion of our performance at the aforementioned Birmingham Improv Festival to a groove-laden concert with Denny Whalen sitting in for Gary Pahler to a 2023 improvisation taken from the recording sessions for our new studio album. It is now available in a 2 CD set with stunning new artwork by friend of the band Vyacheslav Potapov!
