Cobra Kraft - The Baptism of Pedro del Zorro (2023) [Official Digital Download 24/96]

Petter Kraft and Per Borten were asked to do work on commission for Jazzfest Trondheim in 2022. Already long-time friends, they gathered yet others to form Cobra Kraft consisting of Petter Kraft (Tenor sax), Per Borten (Guitars), Vegard Bjerkan (Keyboards), Eirik Øien (Bass) and Kenneth Kapstad (Drums).

Already well acquainted with each from playing in other bands together from a spectrum of genres like pop, rock and heavy metal, they all share the love for the jazz music associated with the 60's and 70's. Cobra Kraft aims to prove that the differences between jazz, pop and hard rock might be smaller than imagined.

In terms of the songwriting, the band might have ended up somewhere close to nordic 70's-jazz (Karin Kroghs “We could be flying” and Keith Jarrett's “Belonging” a.o.). That said, the stereotypically predicted landscapes of Alice Coltrane/ Pharoah Sanders and JimiHendrix/Miles Davis were the initial idea and blueprint for the project. It's all there…

After the recording, all involved were so happy with the outcome that the project turned into a band, They now want to follow up what they have started. So don't miss out! There aren't many acts like this one around anymore…
