With "Cranekiss", Tamaryn emerges from her past efforts in a way that’s inviting, warm-blooded, and shockingly direct. She’s made a big record, loaded with samples, synth triggers and processing that was missing from her previous efforts, pressed into service of a post-adolescent love letter to all the music that she and her collaborators (Jorge Elbrecht of Violens and Lansing-Dreiden, Shaun Durkan of Weekend) hold dear. Violinist Didier Lockwood's 1983 release The Kid has been called an easy listening fusion album that maintains the depth to be taken seriously. It certainly helps to have Rock and Roll Hall of Fame keyboardist David Sancious (Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Sting), guitar wizard Barry Finnerty (Miles Davis, Brecker Brothers), bassist Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report) and drummer Richie Morales (Spyro Gyra) as bandmates. Lockwood and his versatile musicians take on hard bop, fusion, pop, rock ballads and show off serious jazz chops on John Coltrane's Impressions, played at breakneck speed.

Released at the time in Europe by MPS and in the U.S. by the now-defunct Pausa label, the music from violinist Didier Lockwood's 1980 Montreux Jazz Festival set is in both cases out of print. Lockwood, who can play like Stephane Grappelli, here opts for fusion in a sextet that also includes tenor saxophonist Bob Malach and keyboardist Jan Hammer. Lockwood's unaccompanied "Four Strings Bitch" is a highlight of this well-played date.

L.A. hard rock supergroup We Are Harlot offer up a debut that makes nods to the Sunset Strip rock of the '80s, while still grounding itself in the present. Formed in 2011 by former Asking Alexandria singer Danny Worsnop and guitarist Jeff George (Sebastian Bach), the group slowly developed its sound, eventually recruiting bassist Brian Weaver (Silvertide) and drummer Bruno Agra (Revolution Renaissance) to complete the lineup. Recorded in L.A. and produced by Kato Khandwala, their debut has the cool cockiness of classic Guns N' Roses and Mötley Crüe with plenty of strong melodies and tight harmonies, marking a real departure for each of the band's members, especially Worsnop.

Bombadil from Durham, North Carolina breaks down musical walls on "Fences", featuring 11 original songs composed by the trio, influenced by early Paul Simon and steeped in shades of Cat Stevens and The Incredible String Band. Following the loss of a longtime member and a period of exploration that forced the band out of its comfort zone, Bombadil returned reborn with its most remarkable work to date: meticulously crafted yet accessible and unadorned.

Bombadil is a four-piece band from Durham, North Carolina with guitar, bass, piano, and drums as their primary instruments. Their music is best described as folk-pop. The band are known for their creative and heartfelt lyrics, quirky and diverse sound, and engaging live show.

"Natural/Cultural Forces" is a musical representation of visual locations and situations. For the opener Pyramid Warren instructed the three other members of the quartet to imagine what it would sound like to be on the inside a pyramid building up. Hence the crescendos for the grand size of the pyramid and the intimate small playing describing the small interior of a such a large structure.
