The Trio Wanderer pays tribute to Dvořák and his last two trios. Alongside the sombre interiority and fiery intensity of the Trio No.3 in F minor, this programme presents a new version of the famous Dumky Trio, to which the Wanderers owed their first great success on record. Passionate and melancholy by turns, it is also the most innovative and the freest of Dvořák’s trios. A fine symbol for the Trio Wanderer, which has just reached its 30th year of existence without ever ceasing to surprise and touch us. Happy anniversary and hats off!

The Sonata D664: an example of Schubert's fine craftsmanship despite being in the shadow of the giant, Beethoven. Only nine years later, Schubert, just 31 years old, produced what was, already, his last sonata (D960), just a few weeks before his shockingly premature death. It would take many decades for these masterpieces to gain the same consideration as the late symphonies of Mozart or Beethoven’s Op.132 but this music is now cherished by today’s artists – among them Javier Perianes, who here returns to Schubert after a remarkable first volume that enjoyed great success with the public.

Four years after his fascinating and highly praised album with works of the Spanish composer Mompou, Arcadi Volodos went into the Berlin Teldex Studio again to deliver another reference recording, this time with the music of Johannes Brahms. Volodos has played the Brahms solo pieces over the past years in places all over the world and received highest critical acclaim for his interpretation. The Brahms solo works are perfect to show Volodos unique ability to create a special and magic sound, a sound “which lifts us, the listener, into the air and which makes us believe that the world is floating" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung).

The album includes Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3, Op. 72a, Saint-Saens' Symphony No. 3 in c minor, Op. 78 "Organ" and Choi Sung-hwan's Arirang Fantasias performed by Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of maestro Chung Myung-whun.

Ian Watson and Susanna Ogata's acclaimed series on Coro Connections continues with the third album in their exploration of Beethoven's Sonatas for fortepiano and violin. Written at a time when the composer was struggling to accept his growing deafness, the three sonatas on this volume were published together in 1803 as his Opus 30 and provide a remarkable trilogy - a collection of incredible variety and sophistication.

The Orchestre d'Auvergne and Aparté continue their partnership with this new recording dedicated to masterpieces of the romantic repertoire. Beethoven's Quartet No. 11, Op. 95 and No. 14, Op. 131 belong to the works designed for the private interpretation and inner listening of the happy few music-connoisseurs. Those two chamber music scores came from the mind of a digger of new sounds. The question of the quartets' reception has to be updated with actual terms and their arrangement for string orchestra by Gustav Mahler reminds subtly that the public of these works grows over time. The arrangement process shows also admiration and preserves music's eternal youth for which the Orchestre d'Auvergne and its conductor Roberto Forés Veses play the role of a courier.
