Core and founding members James Lloyd and Curtis Harmon refer to In the Moment as the 20th Pieces of a Dream album. Instead of hosting a guest-filled blowout, they keep it simple with familiar associates, guitarist Rohn Lawrence, saxophonist Tony Watson Jr., and bassist David Dyson. The duo also receive a little assistance from a handful of additional musicians, including Shanachie label stalwart Chris "Big Dog" Davis.

These performances come from the first ever complete set of the Mozart symphonies, dating from the 1960s, and they still represent 'big orchestra' Mozart at its most congenial. The contrast here between Bohm's sparkling Mozart, both elegant and vigorous, and the much smoother view taken by Karajan with the same orchestra, works almost entirely in Bohm's favour. Interpretatively, these are performances very much of their time, with exposition repeats the exception (as in the first movement of No. 40) and with Minuets taken at what now seem lumbering speeds. Yet slow movements flow easily, and finales bounce along infectiously. Consistently they convey the happy ease of Bohm in Mozart, even if the recording is beefy by today's standards, not as transparent as one now expects in this repertory, whether on modern or period instruments.

George Frideric Handel had an outstanding trumpeter in his orchestra: Valentine Snow. "Mr. Handel's Trumpeter," as he was later called, inspired Handel to write numerous tailor-made trumpet parts for him. In contrast to his contemporaries, Handel was interested less in virtuosity, than in mellifluous sound and dramatic effect, as reflected in the pieces on this CD. The point of departure for the recording is provided by the trumpet music of Purcell and his contemporaries, music that clearly displays Italian influence and formed the foundation for Handel's compositions.

This program featuring the superb pianist Javier Perianes illustrates four essential qualities of the music of Felix Mendelssohn. Music stripped of all superfluity, including the literary aspect (Songs without Words); a gift for creating magical atmospheres (Rondo capriccioso); unconditional admiration for classical order; and a genuine veneration for Bach (Prelude and Fugue). The whole radiant universe of Mendelssohn is encapsulated here.

If claims could be made for a certain composer to have invented a genre single-handedly, Felix Mendelssohn would be a strong candidate with his ‘Songs without Words’. The term itself can be traced back to 1828, and a letter in which Fanny Mendelssohn mention having received a ‘song without words’ as a birthday present from her brother.

Recordings of Beethoven's Triple Concerto, Op. 56, by a piano trio rather than by a group of virtuosi (a configuration that almost always misunderstands the work) are not abundant. Still rarer are those like the present release by the Storioni Trio, a Dutch group that takes its name from the maker of the 1790s instrument played by the violinist (and strung, like the viola, with gut strings). Pianist Bart van de Roer plays an 1815 Lagasse fortepiano. This recording is part of a series devoted to Beethoven's piano trios, but the Triple Concerto actually is more comfortable in those surroundings than when forced to keep company with the likes of the Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61.

The Lazarus Cast Album is the unique collection of material that includes the last three studio recordings of David Bowie's storied career ("No Plan", "Killing A Little Time", "When I Met You"), recorded with Donny McCaslin and his quartet, the same band that played on Bowie's final studio album . The songs were co-produced by Bowie and Tony Visconti.

Josh Groban, the biggest-selling male debut artist of 2002, returned with his second studio album, Closer, in 2003. With his self-titled debut Top 10 and triple platinum  and still well in the Top 200 after 91+ weeks, Closer found the young singer once more in the studio with esteemed producer David Foster (Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand) and a handful of special guests. A sophisticated pop phenomenon, Closer was a phenomenal new album for the singer.

THE WEEKND has announced the title, cover art and release date for his latest album, the follow up to last year s Grammy-Award winning, triple-platinum Beauty Behind The Madness. The album, entitled Starboy will be released on November 25th, 2016.
