2009 two CD set containing a pair of albums from the Country superstar, originally released on the United Artists and Liberty labels at the height of his worldwide popularity between 1976 and 1983. Though Rogers achieved success at the tail end of the '60s with his band The First Edition, it wasn't until he fully crossed over into the Country market that international fame came calling. Ironically, his move away from the Pop charts actually brought him more success once Country Music began to crossover into the same market he had initially given up on. Contains the albums Daytime Friends (1977) and Love Or Something Like It (1978). Both albums were produced by Larry Butler with the cream of Nashville's session musicians, as well as Elvis Presley's backing singers The Jordanaires.

"Daytime Friends" is the 3rd studio album by Kenny Rogers for United Artists Records, released worldwide in 1977. It was his second major success following the break-up of The First Edition in 1976 (his first album Love Lifted Me was a minor success, with his second, the self-titled Kenny Rogers, going to #1 on the US country charts and crossing over to the mainstream pop charts in many countries). The album produced two top 10 singles with the title cut reaching #1 on the country singles and tracks chart (and the top 40 in the UK singles chart) and "Sweet Music Man" (Rogers' own composition) reaching #9. Elsewhere on the album is a song called "Am I Too Late" which was not released as a single, despite Rogers later saying it was one of his favorite songs. Another track "My World Begins and Ends With You" was later recorded by Dave & Sugar, who had a hit single with it in 1979. The album reached #2 on the Country charts.

"Love or Something Like It" is the 5th studio album by country music superstar Kenny Rogers, released in 1978. It was Rogers' fourth #1 hit album. The album's title cut ("Love or Something Like It") also topped the charts. Though this was the only single to be issued from the album, another cut, "Momma's Waiting" (written by Rogers), was issued on the B-side of a 1978 major hit single, "The Gambler". "Momma's Waiting" was originally recorded by Rogers and The First Edition in 1970. The song "We Could Have Been The Closest of Friends" was also recorded by a number of other artists including B J Thomas, Sammy Davis Jr. and Tom Jones. Biographer Chris Bolton notes in the sleevenotes of the 2009 reissue on the Edsel record label that "I Could Be So Good For You", was Kenny's attempt to "go Disco" and suggests the Disco influence may be the reason only one single was pulled from this album. Bolton goes on to call "Momma's Waiting" a close cousin of Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried" and states the album features songs that are much more pop slanted -on the whole- than any of Rogers' previous albums, but the album's best tracks still have an over-riding country sound.
