The impact of Russian and Oriental culture on Ravel’s formative years retained a hold on him throughout his life. His colourfully re-orchestrated selections from Rimsky-Korsakov’s symphonic suite ‘Antar’ and opera Mlada, with interpolations of his own music, as the incidental score for a theatre production are heard here in their première recording, revived and reconstructed alongside a new text that symbolizes the romance and chivalric spirit of Antar the warrior-poet and his beloved Abla. Ravel’s fascination with the exotic is brought together with Debussy’s influence in the ravishing and enduringly popular song cycle Shéhérazade

Ezra Furman is an American musician and songwriter. "Perpetual Motion People" was recorded with Furman’s current band The Boyfriends - comprising Jorgen Jorgensen (bass), Ben Joseph (keyboards, guitar), Sam Durkes (drums) and saxophonist Tim Sandusky – at studio Ballistico in Furman’s home city of Chicago (though he’s currently based in San Francisco). The album kicks off with ‘Restless Year’, about which Consequence Of Sound described as, “a ball of energy, bouncing around genre borders with glee. There’s the rebellion of ’90s indie rock, a string of sunshine-y ’80s pop, and the snarl of ’70s punk”.

On this release, Hungarian saxophonist Gábor Bolla is joined at the piano by Robert Lakatos, Bolla's alter ego and musical soulmate. Find Your Way is an impressively expansive and yet cohesive musical journey from Bolla and his quartet, completed by Swiss jazz stylist Heiri Känzig on bass, world class drummer Jojo Mayer and guest violinist Lajos Sārközi. Displaying influences including Bartók, Monk, Rollins and Coltrane, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Stevie Wonder and Django Reinhardt, the album also showcases Bolla's search for new sounds and for a musical identity of his own.

This obscure album is a hidden gem. Dee Dee McNeil began her career singing jazz with such greats as Hampton Hawes and Frank Butler, and then veered towards R&B and soul, writing hit songs for Motown. The Afro-American singer/songwriter’s pieces have been recorded by the likes of Diana Ross & the Supremes, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and Nancy Wilson. Singer Barry Window’s father was South African, and those roots serve him well: he is the perfect counterweight to Dee Dee’s resonant voice. Saxophonist Barney Wilen is something of a jazz legend in France, having played with Miles Davis on the sound track for Louis Malle’s iconic "Ascenseur pour l’échafaud".

With a red hot three horn front line of Dave Liebman, Frank Foster and Joe Farrell, drummer Elvin Jones pushes some limits on this overlooked 1971 session. Equally noteworthy is newcomer (at the time) Gene Perla on bass and electric bass, while Jones himself propels the set with his trademark powerful drumming.

Allan Taylor together with the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester with their agile conductor Christoph-Mathias Mueller joined the recordings in Göttingen, and a very successful session was performed.

Krausberry is the Czech blues-rock and hard rock band founded by singer Martin Kraus in 1984 after leaving the band Bluesberry. In 1991, Krausberry members broke up due to dissatisfied business activity, but after five years, the band regrouped and still touring. Nálada is the band's sixth studio album released in 2007 through local Czech label Levné Knihy KMa.

Super Session is an album conceived by Al Kooper and featuring the work of guitarists Mike Bloomfield and Stephen Stills, released on Columbia Records in 1968. Bloomfield and Stills do not play together on the album, with tracks including Bloomfield on side one, and those including Stills on side two. It peaked at number 12 on the Billboard 200, and has been certified a gold record by the RIAA.

New York and Paris-based composer-saxophonist Patrick Zimmerli has pursued overlapping careers in jazz and classical music for over two decades. His career as a composer of classical as well as classical/jazz hybrid music has gained him worldwide recognition. Since 2011 he has undertaken several recording projects with Nonesuch, composing or arranging music for Brad Mehldau, Joshua Redman, Luciana Souza, and others, including a concerto for Redman and strings to be released this year. "Clockworks" combines the considered precision and overarching formal construction typical of classical music with the flair, sound, energy and performative ethos of jazz.
