This video, the second of a four-part series, covers and explains a category of data analysis functions called analytical functions that come with SQL Server 2022 and earlier version. The student will learn what each function does, how to create a complex query using the function and how to use the data results in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to create graphs and reports for further analysis.
This video concentrates on the analytical window function category. It is a follow up to my book, The SQL Server BI Toolkit and can be used with the book or stand alone to achieve the learning goals. The objective of each section is to introduce the SQL Server window function, learn how to use it in a query using SQL Server Management Studio and generate results that can be copied to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for further analysis. This video course consists of video capture of live SSMS coding sessions, graphics produced with Microsoft PowerPoint that explain the purpose of the function, how it is used in a query and also guide the lesson flow.
The ideal viewer is a student that has basic database and SQL knowledge and wants to take their skills to the next level.
